Set up VirtualBox for x64 and/or multi-core tests
As you might know I do some software tests from time to time. So far I have done all tests with x86 builds and have configured Virtual Box to use one processor only. With the developments in the 0.4.15 branch I learnt (e.g. from the Twitter page ) that both x64 support and multicore support have bee...

Re: ROS 0.4.14 blocked by regressions ... Is this the right way?
Happy birthday, ROS 0.4.14 branch.
The mentioned discussion about the future of this branch on the dev mailing list seems to have resulted in no decision in March, has it? I'm just curious if I missed something...

ROS 0.4.14 blocked by regressions ... Is this the right way?
Hi all, I am following the pre-release regression test pages for years and have been doing my share of testing certain OS/non-OS software for every release since a while. I noted that the test page for ROS 0.4.14 has not seen much updates over the last months. The corresponding release branch was br...

Re: Suggestion: Preliminary release notes for RC
Is it this what you are looking for? https://reactos.org/wiki/Community_Changelog-0.4.13 Very well. That's probably the closest I can expect to get at this point. Although very technical, it gives a fairly good idea about the areas that have seen improvements. Thanks for pointing this out, gonzoMD.

Re: Suggestion: Preliminary release notes for RC
Good point, but I don't think this is is feasible for the typical target audience of the release notes. It would mean to browse through ~300 issues, half of which I don't even understand technically, and it would require me to judge the importance of each of these in order to come up with the "...

Suggestion: Preliminary release notes for RC
I have been doing pre-release tests for most ROS release over the last years when they were in RC stage. At this time I usually test certain software (additional to the one tested by reactosfanboy) and some real hardware. The release notes, however, are only compiled for the actual release after the...

Forum and Twitter page not up to date
Hi developers and admins. As a regular visitor to your web page, forum and twitter page I noted that lately the latter give the impression of not being up to date concerning its content. Specifically: In the forum section "General discussion", the thread "0.4.11 Testing" is promi...

How to restore system after installing problematic driver
My question to those testers with more experience is: Is there a way to restore a broken configuration without having to re-install ReactOS from scratch? Background: Testing drivers on real hardware is a very time consuming thing, because if something fails I cannot just revert to an earlier VM stat...

Re: Your most wanted feature for the next Hackfest?
I'm turning this into a general forum post where we can just discuss features that we want to see happen in Hackfest LONG in advance. I hope I am not misunderstanding the idea of this announcement, but this reads like an invitation for a feature wishlist discussion. If so, my top-most wishes are (w...

Re: Questions about ROS compatibility mode
Thanks a lot for the explanation. This really helped.
Now I know that there is no point experimenting with combinations of several OS modes, for instance.

Improve Newbee testing help page experience
Hi website/wiki maintainers, driven by my own experiences as new ROS tester and by other forum threads which show similiar issues I suggest following in order to improve the website experience for new people willing to take ROS for a test ride: There should be a better introduction/landing page for ...

Re: Wiki: reCAPTCHA V1 IS SHUTDOWN
Hi Tobias, I am happy that you are willing to help tesing. I do the very same. I know by myself that finding the right answers in the project pages is not easy, often you need to know the exact name of what you are looking for in order to find it. (That's why I chose to bookmark all important pages ...

Re: Questions about ROS compatibility mode
Thanks for pointing me to this page. However, the screenshot is from Win10, not ROS and the descriptions on this page only partly matches what I see in ROS 0.4.8/0.4.9. It is no clear whether the listed "shims" apply to the version dropdown (shown in the screenshot) or the list available i...
