oiaohm: What about fastcall instruction? That should makes ring change less costly. IIRC fastcall is a calling convention that just sends some of the parameters in the registers, which is completly different from ring changes. To change to kernel mode you must go through a 2E(?) interupt and severa...

MS would NEVER let you get your hands on the object code, OC is incredibly easy to reverse, it would be a liability. You could write it with winelib, but thats C. Also, how would calling to a MS DLL bind you to them? There are cross-OS programs all the time, usually open source, and none are bound t...

It may prevent some fragmentation, but it requires the drive head to move to much farther each time to swap memory then a file. If I had a choice between longer disk life and slightly lower fragmentation, I would choose the former.

The same reason MS didn't call Win95 DOS/Shell. It wouldn't be accurate.

Re: "React16" and "React98" concepts Via

Re: will work?

will halo 2 be compatible? or can it be made compatible even if its for vista? No, the only thing that (I can think of) would prevent it from being XP is DirectX 10, which will be along way away. You could probaby eff around in EXE ,after dX10 is impl., to ignore which Operating system its runing.....

First off, React OS does have services. Second off, I could've sworn running a program that used hooking. Could be wrong. Anyways, I don't know how hard implementing hooking or injections could be, but they should be high priority. You can hook from usermode, relativly easy too. http://flatassemble...
