right after that I get a box from windows saying qemu stopped working. I probably should have included that in my previous post. That error was the only thing displayed in the DOS window so I thought it may be connected.

tried the qemu version at sourceforge page that was specified and on vista I got this error

One option may be to create some type of "distro" builder so that the computer that has the internet connection can create a CD with the apps they want pre-installed. Think SLAX had this capability at one time.

Not sure how difficult this would be to implement. What I am thinking is that reactos could detect Windows installations and provide an option to make applications installed in the other Windows available in ReactOS. Maybe included in this would be a way to allow the applications to make use of the ...

I think that you could run it from with-in windows from usb(preloaded with qemu option) don't know about booting directly from usb.

Tested with SVN 31877 and mono 1.1.13.8.1, it now does a blue screen of death instead of freezing.
