Re: Website Revamp: Your feedback is very needed !

That sounds like it could work if it could be guaranteed that it can't be mimicked(maybe through a very strong random that effects play).
The random would also need to produce a large number of values that produce unique effects.

Re: Website Revamp: Your feedback is very needed !

The dynamic image idea is not really useful anymore in my opinion. There are ways around that that are quite simple to program a bot to do. For a long time you could secure against a bot while not against a human but technology and society has gotten to a point where I don't think it is possible if ...

Re: Setup hangs copying files

top suggestion I can think of is to try the latest trunk build. The last stable release is very old(think it was released in February) and many issues have been fixed since its release such as newer UniATA drivers which fix many hard drive related issues. From what I have heard the trunk is nearly s...

Re: ReactOS on ARM, a niche to fill?

I thought I would mention that windows 8 RT does not run windows 7 apps. All windows RT apps have to be compiled specifically for Windows RT.

Bugzilla links issue

Currently all of the bugzilla links are dead including those using the forum bug tag. I was wondering if there was anything in the works to get these links pointing to the equivalent bugs on the new system. The most glaring case of this is in the news item about the second developer contract. Curren...

Suggestion: .net integration

I know it sounds crazy and size is likely an issue but I have reasons. 1. Mono(the most likely project for it to be based on) is built to be cross platform and stripping out the cross platform bits is very likely to reduce the size. Also using our existing API would probably allow further size reduc...

Re: Android gaming console & Windows 8 with Xbox support

I thought I would mention xbox support isn't completely a new idea from microsoft. Check out XNA. It allows developers to target both windows and xbox. This means a lot of xbox games have a windows compatible api. I used to develop with XNA until Microsoft decided to drop the download for the associ...

UniATA update feedback(good news)

One of the more recent updates seems to have fixed my hard drive. It was a Mushkin Chronos Deluxe SSD I stuck in a Acer AM3400-U2502. ReactOS still doesn't boot all the way yet though. I am waiting for 6901 to be fixed to continue testing which appears to be related to usb not the hard drive. I just...

Re: Website Revamp: Your feedback is very needed !

Some things I noticed. 1. the forums don't feel segregated enough with that style choice. Makes it more difficult to focus on any particular topic. 2.Can't find where to sign in to the forums. 3. On the homepage when returning to the page using the back button it should remember if it is on News or ...

Re: Reactos safety

Not really commenting on the security aspect here, but I thought I would mention that segregating everything into smaller projects would increase the lines of code as it would make it more difficult to reuse(without duplication) code that exists elsewhere in the project as a whole(but not in the sub...

Re: ReactOS UAC suggestion

Actually there is a reason it should effect all programs. Basically a program could theoretically start another program to dismiss a UAC prompt it knows is going to come up shortly. This would essentially allow the program to elevate it's own permissions if UAC wasn't password protected. The idea of...

Re: ReactOS UAC suggestion

It depends on how it functions. I could possibly see it using a bunch of memory if it is working sorta like the sleep or hibernation function where most of the OS is shutdown and saved to RAM or hard disk. This would be kinda the wholesale approach to the problem by saying nothing except this subsec...

Re: checking if features are implemented.

My biggest points on this that I have repeated almost every post this thread is if ReactOS can serve the purpose why not? and Why should we discourage people from finding out if it works for them? Your questions tell me that you missed the first point. I am only saying to use ReactOS where it has pr...

Re: checking if features are implemented.

Thanks for the info Z98. andreas84: (not sure of the manner in which you were shocked as there are 2 or 3 interpretation that could apply in that context)That is the idea I was proposing. But only til we get good enough hardware support of our own. kinda like the arwinsys idea where we are borrowing...
