Re: Virtual Device Driver Framework

First we should get actual XP/2003 drivers made by third parties working. I have read horror stories in JIRA about the poor hacks and obscene quality of many of such drivers. Seems to be a bit more complex than mirroring the documented API as there are quirks being taken for granted.

Re: (Poll) Change new NTVDM icon

What about opening a new JIRA ticket? Or is Hermès going to commit it directly skipping all the mumbo-jumbo?

Re: (Poll) Change new NTVDM icon

What's the licensing and source? The 16px version is pretty decent.

Re: Some Questions

A few people report applications working without actually testing them beyond their initial startup. Rest assured actual regressions are kept track of in the JIRA. And ReactOS does something called "clean room reverse-engineering" which means there are people who's job it is to specifically decompi...

Re: (Poll) Change new NTVDM icon

Yeah. Please use a better place to host your screen captures (https://imgur.com is what the cool kids use nowadays), and preferably from a PNG file.
The overkill compression makes it difficult to appreciate the changes, like someone smearing vaseline on the camera lens. Here crisp pixels are key.

Re: Search in Shell!

Also, to be a bit more constructive. I think the dev shortage has to do with the lack of additions to the team. As in any open source project people come and go, that's just normal, while here the bar is generally a big higher, specially if you go past user mode you can't argue that new blood is flo...

Re: Search in Shell!

Well. I do, I have like three or four patches waiting for review as we speak. I think I know what I'm talking about. There are some things that could be improved, and while the response times are leaps and bounds better than a year ago (thanks to someone's insistence on irc, poor ForeverWinter had a...

Re: Search in Shell!

The problem with the utopic 0.4 milestone is that if you put yourself the bar too high there's the risk of jumping and failing serendipitously late, very late. I still think that the difference between what we have now in TRUNK is light years better than the previous release and that everyone, from ...

Re: Search in Shell!

I personally think there should be at least a release this year, and screw auto-imposed versioning restrictions.
Who cares about numbers? Just release a standard build every three months with a changelog and stay free of release constriction.

See? Easy, tangible results in timely fashion.

Does it work? If you think is useful add it, there aren't many 3D games that work well in ReactOS yet.
Just post a new JIRA ticket with a screen capture of the game/engine *working* and a patch.

Voilà.

Sorry. I didn't mean to sound antagonizing.
This is why reader interpretation has so much leeway.

That is the WHOLE point.
Sarcasm does not work well over text. Next time add some hint so that I can distinguish it from delusional posts.
