Re: [NewIdea]A new way to push ReactOS Development [NewIdea]

The more I think about it, the more it seems like a good idea to approach Apple. While Apple's official stance will always be that Mac users don't need Windows, Boot Camp is a silent acknowledgement that there are people who need to run Windows on their Macs. Boot Camp effectively encourages Mac own...

Re: [NewIdea]A new way to push ReactOS Development [NewIdea]

BTW, I certainly do envision small businesses adopting ReactOS as a way to save money, particularly tech-savvy businesses like computer stores. It's the large corporations (which also have the most money to donate) that I don't see adopting ReactOS, or any other operating system that doesn't come up...

Re: [NewIdea]A new way to push ReactOS Development [NewIdea]

I'm ready to press businesses for their support, but which businesses should we be targeting? Probably not Microsoft, right? So who stands to benefit from a free alternative to Windows, other than Google (who has already supported the project through GSOC)? This isn't as a simple a question as it ma...

Re: [NewIdea]A new way to push ReactOS Development [NewIdea]

put a nice gauge/progressbar about it on the homepage Good idea ;) Definitely a good idea, though it's complicated by the fact that donations are accepted in two currencies. Donations have been declining since 2008. I just compiled the donation data from the Donors' page. The Euro has fluctuated a ...

Re: GSOC

Reactos needs, as windows does too, low level access to the hardware components to run. What about low-level access to emulated hardware? Of course, ARM tablets and netbooks probably don't yet have the power to emulate even the low system requirements of ReactOS, let alone the system requirements o...

Maybe on http://www.reactos.org/wiki/0.4.0 someone could add a checkmark next to the required achievements that have been achieved so far.

Re: GSOC

A bit off topic, but I read a feature about Native Client a few days ago and saw that ScummVM already takes advantage of it, and I had a lightbulb moment where I wondered Google's support of ReactOS might have something to do with a desire to run Windows programs in their browser-only Chrome OS. For...

Re: Congratulations.

During conversation with the president, Marat said that the OS was ready approximately for 80% of real world usage and that roughly one million euros would be needed to complete its development within a year. Did I just read that ReactOS only needs a million dollars to be "complete" within one year...
