Re: Does ReactOS only run inside a VM?

I'm not as concerned about the USB flash drive since the minimum donation is only $100 and you also get a T-shirt at that level. Double your donation and you get a plushie! I've seriously been wondering what was so special about the plushie. Maybe it's huge? :)

Re: Does ReactOS only run inside a VM?

I'm not likely to donate $600 without knowing what single board computer I would get, but I recall reading that a decision hasn't been made yet, and may not be made until after the campaign ends. Perhaps things have evolved since then. Has any decision been made? Is the "hackbunny plushie"...

Re: Does ReactOS only run inside a VM?

It would be nice if there were pictures of the physical rewards somewhere, such as the T-shirt (and what the heck is a "Hackbunny plushie"?). Also, some details about the Single Board Computer would be appreciated. Yes. We're working as mad on it. :) You will see a lot of changes during t...

Re: Does ReactOS only run inside a VM?

The commenter was wrong to claim that ROS:CE would only run in a VM, but he/she did have a point about there being no pictures of the rewards. As "soon" gradually becomes "never", it does hurt the campaign's credibility. I haven't donated any money yet because I'm still waiting f...

Re: [Official]Send a cake to Microsoft!!

For those worried about the legal department of MS: They know us since 10 years ago. Also they k ow Wine too. Regarding our relationship with MS: We dont have any at all, neither they contacted directly the project at any time. A cake is just a wink to those canes being sent among projects as Firef...

Re: [Official]Send a cake to Microsoft!!

On the other hand, I do think MS is already aware of us at some level. There are undoubtedly people at Microsoft who are aware of ROS. If we send a cake, people who were unaware of ROS will hear about it, and it may change the perception of those who already knew about it. What if one of those peop...

Re: Boost the funding... 0.4 release

That said, and wile I agree that 2 instead of 1 dev doesn't mean double as fast development, there is no doubt that more devs means faster development, generally speaking. Otherwise, all the talk about having too few resources, and all the pleas for helping in the code by those who can and joboffer...

Re: [Official]Send a cake to Microsoft!!

This seems like a bad idea to me. We don't want to be on Microsoft's radar. This thing with Microsoft and Mozilla sending each other cakes upon new releases of Firefox and IE is part of a friendly rivalry. Sending a cake to Microsoft is a declaration that ReactOS views itself a contemporary or compe...

Re: Boost the funding... 0.4 release

I'm just empathizing with the developers and thinking that they must be getting tired of people assuming that difficult things could be quickly achievable if only [insert arbitrary number] developers were to dedicate themselves to the task. I have to imagine that if something as important as explore...

Re: Boost the funding... 0.4 release

Unfortunately, you can't casually estimate how many developers it would take to get something like this done. For one thing, each developer has different skills and experience with different parts of the code, so it's not the same as the classic "if 5 workers can move 10 crates in an hour, how ...

Re: Feature request

I don't think any operating system has native support for those formats, and it's definitely too much to ask of the ROS developers. ROS aspires to support all Windows software so, like Windows users, ROS users will be able to download a codecs package to add support for any format they need. I use K...

Re: Microsoft released MS-DOS and Word source code to public

I'd love to have a DEC Rainbow 100. Z80 and 8088 in the same box! I could have kept using my CP/M software at the same time as moving to DOS.
