Re: New install under Oracle VM VirtualBox crashes during boot

I'm sorry you're having such a rough time getting ReactOS to run. I install/re-install ROS dozens of times a week and almost never run into issues. For the record, I use VBox with the Windows 2003 32 bit template. Accept all defaults. Then increase RAM to 2048 MB, set mouse to PS2, and use PCnet-FAS...

Re: Programs that heavily rely on NT 6.x APIs list

Drivers for modern hardware Drivers =/= applications. Drivers are so closely tied to the kernel and have such a large impact on overall system performance and stability that using any kind of compatibility mechanism seems foolish. Can a shim be made that deliberately mis-reports the Windows version...

Re: Programs that heavily rely on NT 6.x APIs list

The point is what applications require a true NT 6.x kernel (even using compatibility shim, NT 5.2 kernel cannot help to run these apps). What API call would a program make that couldn't be emulated via a forward-compatibility shim? a lot of these restrictions are arbitrary and artificial. I said i...

Re: New install under Oracle VM VirtualBox crashes during boot

The fact that it 'aborts' rather than giving an error inside the VM like a BSOD or something else does suggest to me some issue with the virtualization. I know there were some issues with VBox 5.x, but I'm not sure if it was ever something like this specifically. You could review your VBox logs or t...

Re: New install under Oracle VM VirtualBox crashes during boot

Are you able to make it through the second stage installer where you can choose a username, computer name, time zone, etc?

Re: Lets' package up RAPPS and offer it as a download

Just as a test, I ran RApps from one of the latest boot CDs in Windows XP SP3 and was pleasantly surprised that not only did it run, but it was able to list all installed programs and updates.

Unfortunately, it was unable to download/update the app DB, so I couldn't use it for instaling.

What is a Scrum or Kanban project ???
A way of organizing work, tracking progress, etc.

What are you trying to do in Jira? Just searching for issues? Visit https://jira.reactos.org/secure/Dashboard.jspa and use the search box in the upper right.

How can I make the design more modern?
What do you mean? The appearance? There are a few different themes that you can choose after installation.

Re: [Feedback] Malleability is lacking for the user

I tried running the Live-CD in virtual machine, at first it did not work the option to install on disk. (So why did you have this option?) It's being worked on. After loading in Live-CD mode, I tried to insert a shared network folder, but it did not work. Depending on what you mean by this, this wo...

Re: Can ReactOS preclude or inform users of open god mode back door access?

This is one of those features that will be a long time to come (if ever), since ReactOS's development focus is still on compatibility / parity with WIndows features. There's not much room for work that's above and beyond yet. It also begs the question - if your system is compromised to this extent, ...
