It was FAT32. about 3 days after this showed up, I converted to NTFS so I didn't run into any boot problems. The reason that I think someone may have tried starting ReactOS is that I am completely infamiliar with the new Vista NTLDR. If it auto-setup ReactOS, then it might have booted. I really don'...

Okay, I do believe it is the registry and being the same types of files, and at one point (veeeeery unlikely), someone may have tried to boot ReactOS with NTLDR. They would not have gotton far, seeing as I just converted to NTFS, but it is possible. My Vista version is : Home Ultimate (middle grade)...

Sorry, I haven't done much on the forums with studying for stuff. Either way you look at the installer, I didn't use it anyway. I've never used the ROS installer for already-used partitions, and I have a batch file to do this job. Windows is at C:\Windows, ReactOS is at C:\ReactOS. It uses mkhive.ex...

Yesterday, after installing ReactOS, I noticed that control.exe was trying to run Windows control panel elements. I changed %systemroot% to C:\ReactOS and ran control.exe. It still came up with Windows control applets, but that was something I decided wouldn't go away, and ran your explorer shell, i...

Vista issue with ReactOS
This is really weird, but when I installed a copy of ReactOS beside Vista, set the systemroot to C:\ReactOS, and ran a few ReactOS programs, Vista added some Activation (that code where you type in the 25 characters?) programs into ReactOS. There is also a directory C:\ReactOS\registration, which I ...

Error at creating the hives.
Today, after I got over 0.3.1 out, I immediately ran to upgrade my ReactOS machine. I got stuck at: Creating settings for the computer: Creating Registry hives What are the Reg hives' names? NTUSER and C:\REACTOS\system32\*.DAT? I would like to copy them from a live-CD. Hope you like 0.3.1! (Hail Re...

Good idea, but ReactOS is not the most stable OS, like has been said. You should wait for a while, because ReactOS has JUST implemented main network (can't remember NIC/Ethernet type), but it would be a great idea to just wait for next few releases, when network is stable. (Sometimes, ReactOS has a ...

ReactOS current CDs failed?
Today I installed ReactOS 0.3.0 to my uncle's crappy V2 premeir. To my surprise ReactOS ran. The thing sucks, so I wasn't to surprised when later I couldn't run a live cd on it. But then, My bootcd-25758-dbg.iso boot disk failed in VMWare. (loaded critical files and freeldr really quickly, then stopp...

Thank you for the quick replies. I will take a look at all documentation. (Not just the lisences, but also how you created some of it. I am no expert programmer, I can't even access my Hard Drive from my programs. This whole exercise is to me so that I can help your project.) But I will respect all ...

New OS
Hi all! I know C++ (some),and I would like to start programming a Microsoft(TM) Windows(TM) Vista alternative that I call Frista. But could I ask how to access the hard drive? I like to start ground up, but is it possible under GNU to borrow some of your code for my first release? :( (Later, after I...
