Re: Filesystems support in FreeLdr

This is a filesystem specification, ReactOS uses an EXT2/3 driver made by another project, so this is pointless and does not help. The problem is somewhere in the underlying file system support. I just monitor https://jira.reactos.org/browse/CORE-3073 for updates.

Re: BBS & terminal support

Computer could communicate to computer by just making a phone call And now almost everyone is connected to VOIP system, which quality is so low that it might take 3 or 4 tries to send a fax through using the same modem. Even if you setup some DOS computer with all the proper hardware and programs, ...

Re: [IDEA] Ethereum for fundraiser

I don't really know anything about Ethereum myself, but it seems like a good opportunity. If you know what you are doing, then I'd say go for it. It's another pump and dump scheme, not even the first bitcoin technology based pump and dump scheme. Once it reaches a decent sell off point, it will all...

Re: ROS Gaming? :D lol

Dark, I thought that was fixed. The stuff in the unofficial change log are things that are already fixed, provided you try a recent revision. What you describe was a problem with UniATA, and we have the latest version of that AFAIK. Still, I'm waiting to hear news about more stability before I atte...

Re: ROS Gaming? :D lol

Most of the time a game has no single file bigger than 4GB and thus FAT32 is fine in theory. Of course we need another FS for proper right management etc, but that is another story. YOu last point cannot be changed, because app have no clue how to handle a unknown WIndows OS. isn't there still a bu...

Re: Why ROS will not work on NTFS/ZFS/Reiser4/whatever right

It's probably time to edit or recreate this sticky topic as ntfs, ext2, etc. support now exist; but there is still a limitation of only installing on FAT.

Re: ReactOs and steam charts/other OS statistic sites

It reports as Windows server 2003. You can also set it to report as "workstation", but most applications such as paint.net don't care and refuse to install on all server versions.

Re: EPIC WIN!

Since network is not working, any browser tests are on local files. If it's virtual box, try changing the motherboard chipset under system, and then the network adapter if that still doesn't work. Looks like the default selections in newer versions of virtualbox aren't supported at the moment. (may...

Re: Make ARM (rpi 3) run x86 REACT OS - fun & useful

Wasn't there someone doing work to translate the op codes from x86 to arm during runtime at some point (or was that PPC)? Either way Microsoft may have picked it up as they announced their new Windows phones will be able to run win32 from arm.

Re: ReactOS audit

Yes, but wasn't the leaked stuff in assembly? Anyone that knows the answer to this, cannot be a developer as they have seen leaked Windows code, and it sounds like you've seen it. Also, I would have to say no it's not mainly in assembly, that would be insane and impossible to code/maintain. Any mod...

Re: Fact or fiction?

Also, "Windows 9" got skipped because of 95/98 and the ensuing search engine confusion that would cause. At least, that's what a friend in the software engineering field told me. Doubt it, most stuff from that era predates being put on the internet so you have to find it in book form. I s...

ReactOS used against tech support scammer

Came across this youtube video of someone trying to troll a tech support scammer using ReactOS, would have been even more funny if any of the remote desktop apps had worked.

Re: Will ReactOS be ready when Windows 8.1 is phased out?

As for replacing the metro interface on WIndows 8 and above, I don't think that will be possible since the old WIndows shell runs inside of a metro program (at least in 8). Can you please elaborate? Programs like fxxkmetro kill the metro thread successfully without damaging other function. But what...

Re: Will ReactOS be ready when Windows 8.1 is phased out?

I dislike Windows 10, and currently using Windows 8.1. I wonder whether ReactOS will be ready when third-party software will require Windows 10 to run. I also wonder whether I would be able to use ReactOS shell under newer Windows versions as a replacement to the "Metro" interface. Here i...

Re: Proposals for REALLY pushing this project forward

Ubuntu has also gotten very much negative feedback about their choices in this regard. I don't follow Firefox that much these days so I can't tell. Personally, I wouldn't want to use finished ReactOS if it bundled some bloatware, because then there'd be fewer clear points in which it's better than ...
