Re: ReactOS install

Update: -I installed 73096 on VBox and set the image to have 2048 mb of ram but when i got to the logo it stuck and refused to go any further. I downloaded the most up-to-date nightly 73108 and it still failed. Lowered the ram to 512 and it booted into windows okay. I skipped Gecko and went to downl...

ReactOS install

I had a bit of time today to fool around with Ros and tried to install the latest on physical hardware and on hyper-v -First time I tried it on hyper-v it wouldn't go past a black screen. After some fiddling it started to load and went to the first time user setup and asked to download gecko and fro...

Re: KCSoftwares tests on ReactOS

One advisement is that on the website's download page there are two download versions "Regular" and "Lite". It seems that the Regular version is bundled with a potentially unwanted application (PUA) "RelevantKnowledge".

The Lite version seems to be clear.

Re: My specific reasons for wanting ReactOS:

I work as a Windows Administrator and the idea that we can have a ReactOS server interact with windows desktop clients would be of a great interest to me. -Think of being able to replace windows servers which cost a great deal in maintenance fees with a free alternative. -Being able to bundle ROS wi...

Re: Will ReactOS be ready when Windows 8.1 is phased out?

IMO just install classic shell on win 8/8.1/10 and it runs fine. Just tell it to ignore all metro apps and it runs like win7 with a bit of quirkiness.

Re: Proposals for REALLY pushing this project forward

#1: Development is already being pushed forward in the last year or so. a lot of the major blockers have been dealt with which allowed ROS has moved to a rapid release schedule. They have also acknowledged that they needed to fix their patch process and by that more patches have been accepted & ...

Website - Blog view

Hey I just wanted to point out an issue I have with the website which should not be too difficult to fix.

When you go to the blog list https://www.reactos.org/blog-posts it only shows three blog posts, could we change the number of posts up a bit?

Version numbers are not important. Having stable and a steady flow of releases is what is important

Re: games on ROS

Actually thinking about it a wiki page would not do for the long term, we will be overloaded. A page like what we are doing is fine for the short term but if we want to do it for the longterm a good example of this would be this : http://pcsx2.net/compatibility-list.html I suggest we ask them how th...

Re: Ewie GUI

Don't get me wrong I am not a metro lover and I agree with all your points. Lately I have been using a touchscreen laptop (Because the touchpad is soooo bad on this laptop) and doing business as usually on classic shell is difficult but on the same page using metro kinda got in the way because a lot...

Ewie GUI

On the indiegogo page it state that "A newly rewritten User Interface (no Metro - we promise!)" and as much as I understand why ROS would say that phrase in that manor I also think it shows shortsightedness of the overall picture. First and foremost I want to get to the root of the problem...
