Exactly. This would be the first thing I'd like to see introduced after the networking is stable. This would enable easier testing and use for people. In my point of view, next important steps would be. 1) Introducing (auto) update feature, which would update your ROS on the fly. (You could set it o...

Thinking about UI i got the following conclusion: we must innovate. ReactOS must not be only a winNT clone, must be also an improved version of it. And it is not aimed to be Windows clone, as far as I know, but as "another Windows" which aims to fix the issues Windows has. Hence there is ...

What about doing the start menu as a collection of tool bars. You could have a tool bars for: Common Items - All Programs, Run, Help, etc. Quick locations - My Comp, My Docs, etc. Quick Apps - Web Browser, Mail, etc. Session Commands - Lock, Switch User, Logoff, etc. System Tools - Task Manager, Co...

No they don't as long as you animate them properly. Make him blink every now and then, look around etc.

Olisiko muuten aika alkaa keräämään porukkaa suomenkielistä käännöstä varten? Ilmeisesti itse kielitiedot ovat DLL:ssä jolloin riittää rekisteriin sopivan arvon lisääminen/muuttaminen...

Vapaaehtoisia? Itselläni ei valitettavasti aika riitä itse kääntämiseen...

Not necessarily. I you make them keep their planetary orbits (and not just buzzing randomly around) and maybe going fast enough that the orbits themselves are visible then it should be fine. Also it should be made clear, from the start, what those buzzing "flies" are. Maybe a splash screen...

There is few flaws on your design. 1) Consistency You have two sets of different styles on single menu. You should try to use single style, as much as possible. Specially when designing the "main menu" of the system. 2) Unlabeled icons According to Fitt's law: Bigger target equals to faste...

Well, microchips aren't very menacing. ;) How about just bugs (as beetles and such), of course it has to include the original moth! 8) All you really wold need to is attach Mr. Potato-like hands and legs to that atom, give it a eyes and mouth and there you go. Random idea: How about when Reacty is i...

Are you thinking game as in Game or just ROS's own Space Academy (pinball) or such? If you're going for Game: Personally, I would go for ready famework, i.e. Crimsonland's. 2D would definately be the one to go for as it requires lot less hassle hence the chance of actually finishing the project incr...

There are reasons to a lot of people to use ROS in the future. Obviously you have not everybody included in your post, at least I'm not in any of your examples. If you want contribute, if not don't waste your time. Nice, hostile, post with no arguments, just denial. That's the way to do it. This is...

For starters, there are couple of good articles about this issue at Gamasutra. If you are insterested, I suggest you start from there. (Although it is a site devoted to game development it still has some interesting articles, every now and then, about behaviourism and UI design.) Also Microsoft has...
