Re: Mouse speed!

This is bad. Because not only you'll need to allow people to set it properly - you'll also need to properly parse the sensitivity, pressure, angle and other stuff if you want ROS to be used by digital artists ( like me ) who work with Wacom and Genius digitizers. BTW, here's a Wine patch that adds t...

Re: ROS vs. MS Windows. What has to be different?

Current MS's offering sends over 80 megabytes of encrypted data every 15 minutes to MS's servers, regardless if you've "disabled" the "offerings" or not. Links: http://aeronet.cz/news/analyza-windows-10-ve-svem-principu-jde-o-pouhy-terminal-na-sber-informaci-o-uzivateli-jeho-prst...

Re: Windows 10 is officially a spyware and an adware

Z98, since you've moved this to off-topic, I'll be as straight as possible - if you'll mix a barrel of strawberry jam with a bucket of sh*t, you'll get a barrel of sh*t. The Microsoft which created NT 5.x and the Microsoft which turned it into NT 6.x are in fact not the same companies. While the bra...

Re: Windows 10 is officially a spyware and an adware

Dear Z98, if the company does not abide its customers' wishes, sooner or later it will get kicked off the market. If the company tries to enslave its userbase, it will eventually get shut down (both literally and figuratively speaking). It's impossible to "demonize" devil nor justify what ...

Re: Windows 10 is officially a spyware and an adware

More "happy" news: http://imgur.com/gallery/8OJ4t? - Windows 10 is going to invalidate your license if you'll do any changes to the hardware and will force you to buy entirely new license. http://www.myce.com/news/76883/ - Microsoft is going to apply invasive updates that will render poten...

Got my own RPi 2 Model B in yesterday's mail. Would be great to see ROS finally work natively on ARM.

bfg2407 wrote:What are you doing about VST? Example: iVST Yamaha s-yxg50.
The VSTi synths, obviously, need VST host wrapper which would translate MIDI SysEx in real-time. While it's easier to make, there's a patent problem, since VST(i) interfaces are copyrighted by Steinberg, Inc.

Re: What ReactOS is missing for a beta release?

Here's what I remember (not a complete list, obviously):
  • Sane memory manager
  • Read/Write NTFS driver
  • Scandisk/Chkdsk
  • Disk defragmentation API
  • Several Explorer/Shell features
  • Glitch-less theming support
  • Proper WDM driver support
  • Various kernel32 functions
  • MCI/MMSYS components (MIDI support)

Re: Preinstalled MIDI driver with sound bank on ReactOS?

They also provide a default soundfont. It is very very high quality. Sadly, no. Default FluidSynth's soundfont is muffled and not really better than MS's gm.dls. The proposed "Codename 'Merkin'" is better, but there's also one which will sound great on the most of GM/GS MIDI files and old...

Re: Preinstalled MIDI driver with sound bank on ReactOS?

Interesting, but what about something based on TiMIDIty? 1. Do NOT mention TiMIDIty. EVER. It has the WORST synthesis engine you could ever imagine, and I really have no idea why that piece of literal crap is still included in Linux distros. 2. Do NOT link to sourceforge, that is the malware-plague...

Re: Preinstalled MIDI driver with sound bank on ReactOS?

The first is too big, it will likely crash ReactOS at this current state. xD The second seems to be pretty small, while the third is on the same conditions as the first. The fourth is copyrighted by YAMAHA and SoundMax/Analog Devices, so I don't think they can implement it on the ISO itself. No, I ...
