You will largely have a Win9x system when you run DOS with a shell and then tack on a wine subsystem, no? Now that would be quite interesting, Windows dethroned by a DOS-based GUI and wine packed together...

Almost should go for a theme that looks young and refreshing. Perhaps like the Plastic, DeskToon, or iCandy. In the next revision go for an optional sharp looking version. We should have a nice simplistic start menu, too. Here's an old example of mine: http://webpages.charter.net/mariemasters/starte...

A good guitar riff that grows quickly then fades away would be sweet. Wish I had my old wav file collection.

Matthias,

Blended and Pureline are the only two of your examples I could see as default. The others are just too, well, weird. I personally use a form of blended on my SuSE machine. Its easy on the eyes to figure out the windows's toolbar options.

Some of the basic subsystems we've discussed in the past are already available in some form through open source. Rather than create a subsystem for DOS, for example, it would seem to be time better spent for the ROS user to use FreeDOS or DOSbox on top of ROS. This would keep ROS as mean and lean as...
