because then it becomes too big and you shut out people who have a phone line connection from obtaining it easily (and a lot of the time from getting it for free) look, we're no longer in the day of the 14.4 modem. just download the single ISO overnight. i used to download linux ISOs (wtf is with t...

why don't you just have a setup program and have it install the apps you want? but provide the basics for the people that want them. windows xp seems to do just fine with one cd. the "software creep" naysaying sounds rather reactionary to me. notepad, paint, media player, thunderbird, and ...

fine you're not windows and you're not linux. but simple fact of the matter is both windows and linux come with basic software applications. basic text editor. basic paint program. basic media player. basic email client. basic browser software. it would be really brilliant to download and install an...

i believe the closer ROS gets to a windows type distribution, the less hassles there will be. a cd0 with just the base OS (gui, drivers) and a browser is a good idea a cd with the base OS, a browser, a basic email client, some kind of text editor (like notepad and wordpad equivalents), a basic paint...

xml defined?

how about a .xml defined menu where users can customize their start menu?

Re: words to developers (NT pnp internals, tops and a questi

reactos really should unify about boxes and licenses in your apps, right now it looks unprofessional like in linux where every app has its own, different about box and license dialogs.. I agree with that. Things like this is what i had in mind when the GUI discussion was going on. There needs to be...

Resources for ReactOS (RFC)

I'm thinking Icons, Wallpaper, etc here. Mostly for the idea of theming. I know this has been touched on before but I haven't seen much discussion on this lately (I guess it's a ways off yet). It would be nice if ReactOS theming could be done in package files. Like in XP, you could specify whole ico...

Re: Looks Like we have something that is workable.

ACL.INI only link to directorys no file control. This gets around the problem in umsdos it does files. But this is not ACL Access Control Lists. This is a limited Access Control List. Still the amount of control is still to limited. No complete tracking nice problems still. But able to live with. Y...

If you really wanted FAT ACLs just do what was suggested earlier, using some kind of access list like apache's .htaccess files. the file would be checked prior to access and either accept or deny (or whatever). obviously this file would be hidden from normal view.

well not only does there need to be project lead but there needs to be discussion on what exactly this game is going to be and what resources/talent we'll need. I'm not a (good or experienced) programmer but I have more experience designing game content (war3 maps, quake2 maps for example). Someone ...
