Re: Can I programatically detect if running on ReactOS?

Maybe check the file properties of a system file for ReactOS could be an idea. Do you have a specific file/property in mind I could check? I'd really be interested in a reliable method that would be promised by the developers to always be in the OS. I'm assuming that doesn't yet exist. Would the te...

Can I programatically detect if running on ReactOS?

To quell the concerns of the developers, I am not looking to do this to write a "ReactOS-specific" version of my software, it's purely for survey/logging reasons. I'm doing the same for WINE. Is there a reliable way to actually detect if my software is running on ReactOS? I tried searching...

Re: Intel processor design flaw requiring ROS kernel mode ch

Don't get comfy. Link AMD , Arm also affected by data-leak design blunders, Chipzilla hit hardest kek! The vulnerability only results in a segfault because AMD does actual security checking, Intel chips do no security checking for their instruction prediction and thus are actually vulnerable to arb...

I'm glad at least one developer likes 10, lol. I thought they all hated it.
I like 7's too. It feels really cheesy by today's standards, but it's still beautiful.

Re: What would you do when ReactOS would cross XP?

I'd use it for embedded stuff, if it ever makes it to ARM. Unfortunately XP's API is just way too outdated now, nothing even works on it anymore. I'll still be eagerly watching the project as it transitions to targeting Vista+. I'm actually more interested in the project for embedded/dedicated syste...

Re: roadmap and priorities

I think the only real issue is funding. Like what ThFabba said, it really all boils down to who can do what and wants to do what. ReactOS' life blood is volunteers, which, obviously, cannot be controlled. What ReactOS really needs is funding, whether that be donations or actual funds through corpora...

Re: Please add the modified Lautus-theme of GreenteaOS

What ? We can not use the logo freely(libre) ? Isn't the logo under GPL ? The ReactOS Foundation is (quite understandably) very protective of it's intellectual property. Yes, the source is free and you can do whatever you want with it under the restrictions of the GPL, but the branding of ReactOS a...

Re: Please add the modified Lautus-theme of GreenteaOS

They're not violating the GPL, GPL only says you have to share your changes, which they are doing. And yes, the issue is they're not giving ReactOS any credit whatsoever, even giving the vague statement "written from scratch", which is implying that they, the Greentea OS Team, wrote it. Th...

Re: Please add the modified Lautus-theme of GreenteaOS

This is about as deep as their "issues" get, what should they steal and how should they rename it: https://github.com/GreenteaOS/Greentea/issues/97 . I'd be mad, but this "project" is probably going to putter out in, probably a year, my guess  Shame these kids can't do some...

Re: Please add the modified Lautus-theme of GreenteaOS

Checking the website and what do I see? a complete lie. "Greentea OS is a free Windows-compatible operating system, written from scratch, but more user and production oriented. We would first make it *actually* usable for day-to-day use." You are WHAT??! WRITTEN FROM SCRATCH??! LOLOLOLOLO...

Re: Question about Audio !

Sound in general in ReactOS is horribly incomplete right now, last I checked it only supported one specific bitrate or something. After sound is actually complete the team can probably begin to actually make it work out of the box.

Re: How many of you still use Windows XP?

Keep in mind that the Microsoft Windows XP Point of Sale edition is STILL SUPPORTED. And for such purposes, there is nothing wrong with that. I get so sick and tired of idiots parroting marketoid FUD about "security" and how anything oooold is magically "insecure". Newsflash: Yo...
