Re: Wine-Staging is being revived!
That's good, hopefully it'll be easier to maintain after rebasing.

Re: Support of Java 8 (or even 9) ?
I've been able to run old school runescape using the osbuddy launcher and it runs well. It uses the most recent java 8 by default if i'm remembering right.

Re: OS Programming Tutorial[Specifically for ReactOS type]
Note: Never mention ReactOS or Linux in the same sentence assuming that the two are in some way alike. Someone will drop a brick from a very great height. It is one of the forum taboos here. There is actually a way in which they're alike. Both LInux and ReactOS are opensource counterparts to closed...

Re: Year 2038 problem
This isn't a "Year 2038" problem, it's a "Linux developers are dumb as bricks" problem, every other Unix hardened against this about a decade before Linux did, and of course Windows has always used 64-bit time. I love it when the world panics over Linux being garbage, you'd thin...

Re: Unofficial ReactOS Application Compatibility Database
They are probably aware of that. Otherwise, they would have deleted it. It has zero tests submitted so far, if any tests get submitted they'd probably get rejected by a maintainer for not being able to provide the correct wine version along with not accepting test data from anything beyond official...

Re: VirtualWin as base for virtual desktops
It's GPL licensed, so at the very least its possible it could be put into ROSapps.

Re: itunes, please
Now I'm curious if alternatives like copyTrans manager work in ROS, BRB.
edit: the installer can't connect to the internet, so unless there is an offline installer copyTrans has issues too.

Re: Unofficial ReactOS Application Compatibility Database
Wine database can be used. I have successfully registered ReactOS as a distribution in there. https://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?bIsQueue=false&bIsRejected=false&sClass=distribution&iId=1559&sAction=view&sTitle=View+Distribution We are not testing wine though. We have so...

Re: How many of you still use Windows XP?
I've made myself a "service pack 4" slipstream of XP professional that includes all released updates, a few registry tweaks, and firefox. I use it in virtual machines often for when I need to run something that doesn't work in wine.

Re: EPIC WIN!
I wish ROS had a section of the site set up similarly to appdb.winehq.org. It makes it very easy to submit test data and keep everything organized and will scale much better than the wiki page (it'll also work for non game programs as well).Adcock wrote: I think this needs update.

Re: EPIC WIN!
Not a complete success, but using the latest build from Oct 21 of this year I managed to install the driver of the TRENDnet TU2-ET100 ( https://www.trendnet.com/products/proddetail?prod=150_TU2-ET100 ) and link it to the hardware itself using device manager (device manager still can't find it automa...

Re: Has anyone tried to run andLinux on ReactOS?
I installed the latest minimal version of andlinux and the installer succeeds with errors (mentioned something about a network adaptor and the largest .vdi file was too large though I had ReactOS on a 100GiB virtual disk). The FTLK console opens fine though. Try installing it on your host OS and tra...

Re: Choosing a Linux distribution
I've found Manjaro Linux to be a good balance between the newness of packages and stability with a sane default setup. Throw wine-staging on it and it'll run the majority of games barring some of the less efficient dx11 games.

Re: Amazing progress!
Forks are almost always good, if something good gets implemented in the fork that ROS can use we can just merge their patch. As for forks that break NT compatibility, they will most likely be irrelevant as they will have less capabilities and stability than they would have had otherwise.
