Re: Idea - Regpatch + Appdirs
What I'm imagining is a kind of 'sandbox' environment in which installers are launched, whereby any and all changes (file- and registry-wise) are tracked and registered, to be undone at a later point. That way it could be fully BC, yet offer a lot of advantages Windows can't even dream of. Heck, you...

Re: Idea - Regpatch + Appdirs
I must say (after recently experiencing yet another MSI screw-up/DB corruption issue), that I like the idea of improving the application installation system in Windows/ReactOS. Primarily it should Just Work (tm) and not conk out the second you look at it funny or do something it doesn't expect. MSI ...

Re: Clinging to Windows Classic
I think the issue is more like, to use the tired and over-used car comparison, a group of people trying to construct a nifty car which they intend to start distributing once they get all the bugs worked out in the design. Along comes someone who looks at the bare design of a car which is still very ...

Re: Clinging to Windows Classic
My purpose isn't to tell the developers to get to work on a flashier GUI NOW, I'm perfectly aware that now is not an appropriate time to begin work on these things. However, it's not too early to start planning and getting ideas for what we can do when the time is right... And ah, the mentality tha...

Re: Clinging to Windows Classic
Really... ReactOS is in alpha stage, the backend stuff is a lot more critical than flashy GUI stuff. Once we reach 0.4 I can see some work on the frontend occurring, but right now it'd be like waxing a car while it's undergoing an overhaul in the shop.
Re: Two Items
We'd actually be happy to work with you on the POS system, to get ROS working on it and filling in holes. It's something that's been discussed amongst the developers, but we've never been in contact with any company that do sell POS systems. ok sure how much would you want? we need to get the opera...

Re: USB Transfer Cables
USB debugging support will be added for sure, I'm not sure about the kind of cables used with this, though.
