Re: Does ReactOS only run inside a VM?
They didn't drop that old hardware. They didn't drop support for x86 CPUs! They did . Windows 7, for instance, didn't "support" my Sound Blaster Live! because Creative Labs didn't write a Windows 7 driver for it. That's not Microsoft's fault The audio stack was completely re-written makin...

Re: Does ReactOS only run inside a VM?
can anyone think of a PC OS that doesn't have near-universal compatibility? BeOS. Also, while DRM does non allow OS X to run on non Apple hardware, there is plenty of examples of incompatibilities between Macs themselves and their newer/older OS versions due to 32/64 UEFIs, drivers/hardware revisio...

Depends on your definition of Personal Computer or Wintel.
And even with the latter, Mac were Wintels for quite some time now

Re: What is the future of AMD/Nvidia drivers?
Yes, UniATA is not the best example, but I don't remember what other drivers are bundled with ROS. Some audio driver, I think. :? So I totally agrees with you: there is no point of bundling anything beside bare minimum + network drivers, so that up-to-date versions can be downloaded. Windows is doin...

Re: [Official]Send a cake to Microsoft!!
Sure, but one need to pay his lawyers during the hearings, and I doubt ROS have this kind of money. :) This is actually a common practice for large companies to suffocate start-ups. Just start a law suite under any pretence and make it linger long-enough. You will note that in this case the suite wa...

Re: What is the future of AMD/Nvidia drivers?
You can distribute whatever the copyright holder authorizes you to distribute, so no, not "under any license"; a license with a no-redistribution clause can not be distributed. I meant that a person who would write a driver could distribute it under any licence he/she sees fit AND it will...

Re: What is the future of AMD/Nvidia drivers?
Sorry, but I don't understand the point of this whole discussion. :? As I see it, there is no need to include video (or other drivers, aside a bare minimum) with ROS sources nor make a "distribution" that bundles them, since NT architecture has an API and a DDK/WDK for writing drivers. So ...

Re: big donation!!
But I see one possible loophole. Many of the ROS users do have valid Windows licences. So if they have a COA on their machine, then legally they can use Microsoft OS extensions on that machine. May be, may be not You may use this supplement with each validly licensed copy of the software. It is a m...

VS2010 would be hard to support, as its GUI require .NET 4, IIRC.
