Re: How many of you still use Windows XP?

When I went to my local McDonald's a few days ago I saw they had new PoS machines and I heard a Windows 7 "ding" come from one, so I guess even McDonald's is finally upgrading from MS-DOS.

Re: Cooperation with Falco Software.

Yes, I suppose I can provide about 10 C++ developers. But I need own FalcoOS derived from ReactOS. Is it possible? Yes. ReactOS is under GPL, so you must comply with that license and release the source of your derivative. But you can do anything you want with it and name it whatever you want. The o...

EmuandCo wrote:What, you don't need USB for it?! Who told you that? Tell this a kernel and drivers communicating to your hardware and say that again.
I thought UEFI or something could boot from USB, so that the OS didn't strictly need drivers to boot. Maybe I'm confused with something else.

Re: ReactOS (USB) TO GO

Rufus is an easy way to create bootable USB drives from an iso file. I really don't think USB booting works in ReactOS yet. But you could try it and see! USB booting works, that's a very simplistic way to boot an OS, you don't need actual USB drivers to do it. IIRC ReactOS Live is a little quirky, ...

Re: How many of you still use Windows XP?

Even Firefox from 2007 has a built-in spellcheck so I don't see what the issue is.

Re: Intel to ditch CSM from UEFI in 2020, effects on ROS??

I can't answer your question directly, but if you're familiar with BIOS calls you can look in FreeLDR and HAL's source code in the repository: https://github.com/reactos/reactos/tree/master/hal/halx86 https://github.com/reactos/reactos/tree/master/boot/freeldr I don't think any other part of the sys...

Re: How many of you still use Windows XP?

The issue isn't viruses. If someone can run code on your machine you're screwed no matter what. OS exploits don't matter so much if I can access the file system through the official API anyway. The concern is with networking vulnerabilities like buffer overflows that allow for arbitrary code executi...

Re: The source code

Adcock every time you try and write your stream-of-consciousness of trying to understand something technical you sound like my grandmother No one's having trouble understanding what a Batch OS is, we all know what an IBM mainframe is. We don't understand if he's trying to make an actual batch-proces...

This blatantly misinformed and baseless fear about one subject being flawed just because another vaguely-related subject is flawed reminds me of the Dihydrogen monoxide hoax.

Re: The source code

Question, I have made a batch OS, I was planning to have a very modified ReactOS come with it so that it can run. Would I be allowed to sell my batch OS part for a price, but then send out the modified ReactOS free with it? (The Batch OS auto-installs onto ReactOS from a separate disk) what does th...

Re: Can development focus be switched from XP to Windows 10?

The project would like to get full Server 2003 comparability before moving targets. If they changed the target every time a new version of Windows came out they'd never get there. After Server 2003 compatibility is achieved then they can start moving to new targets. But Windows 8/10 compatibility wi...

Re: Romanian topic

I can see your first language isn't English. I'd just like to point out for future reference, where ever you learned that you can use the letter U as a stand-in for the word "you", it was wrong. That's incredibly impolite slang and nobody but the village idiot uses it in English.

Re: Metro theme

It's actually called Modern. There's no plans for that right now, all the core team wants to do right now is focus on Server 2003 compatibility, there's no reason in thinking beyond that aside from some structural changes in the kernel introduced in later NT versions. If anyone wants to implement an...

Point taken - Offer withdrawn. Won't waste my time on this hobby project anymore. Please delete my profile. You're that same guy who was here a few months ago who was super impatient while lying about following the project for nearly a decade before asking for their profile to be deleted, aren't you?
