Re: Real Hardware - Post yours
Basically you can run Firefox and a few other older browsers none of which renders modern web sites entirely correctly. The system is in alpha state and the target is Windows Server 2003, this is completely normal only older browsers work (the support of W2003/XP is stopped for long time now). The ...

Re: More compatible device drivers
If you are not comfortable with English, there are other language sections , maybe your native language is one of them? To give you an answer, the project is in development status and lot of drivers/applications/features are not implemented yet or not working for the moment. The ultimate goal of the...

Re: In the event Microsoft decides to open source Windows
To return to the topic, I don't see a question of the what happen, if Microsoft open source Windows, ReactOS would simply add the open source features not implemented and continue the project.

Re: writing a driver: why does Windows refuse to load my simple driver?
Because at first ReactOS was an open source alternative for Windows 95 (kernel near from the 2000's one) Certainly not. ReactOS was originally an alternative to Windows NT 4, then Windows 2000, then XP and Server 2003. Windows 9x/Me OS and kernels are of completely different design than those of Wi...

Re: writing a driver: why does Windows refuse to load my simple driver?
made a copy of vga.sys from Microsoft. From what version ? XP, 7, 10 ? So why doesn't the ReactOS vga.sys work under Windows 2000? Because at first ReactOS was an open source alternative for Windows 95 (kernel near from the 2000's one) but know the target is Windows Server 2003. Try with XP if you ...

Re: In the event Microsoft decides to open source Windows
Not Windows 10 as we hoped "We" == only you. Like said everytime by lot of people : All people is not English native and in few languages there is a indemnified personnel pronoun (not including people in particular), which is translate by "We" by error in Google Translate. For a...

Re: Wine 5.0 released
Sadly it shows again, that there is a lack of cooperation between ReactOS and WINE. The cmd.exe of ReactOS is better. And they have two different versions of the Taskmanager. Same with some other programs and libaries which goes other ways. It's difficult to compare two projects so different. The g...

Re: [solved] writing a driver: why does Windows not know the date
Try with a date before 2000 to be sure it's not a problem of the date (like the Year 2000 Problem).

Re: So impressed by ReactOS 0.4.14
I am a bit confused here. You refer to ReactOS 0.4.14 but on the website latest available release is 0.4.12. Where did you get your 0.4.14 from? It's a development build not a real release yet. Those builds are nightlies from the latest master on Github. Anything from master right now is .4.14, bec...

It's nothing, and maybe it's because of me. I'm not English native and sometimes I use a word for another, or use unusual syntax.PurpleGurl wrote: ↑Sat Jan 18, 2020 1:52 am Yeah, I think I misread the first part of your sentence.

Re: ReactOS updater
Yes, but if there is a server for update of ReactOS, it would be very good. So you mean like remote updates across an entire local network? Yes, that would be great in an enterprise environment. And my earlier comment about BITS was concerning 3rd-party software that uses it. I am pretty sure that ...
