I am trying to install the Open Source version for Windows of Livecode:
http://downloads.livecode.com/livecode/
The first thing I noticed (VMware 6.0.1, Ubuntustudio 13.10) is that items downloaded to the desktop are not visible until after a reboot.
Version 6.5.2 wilol not install; it merely freezes the system.
Version 6.0.1 starts installing and then freezes.

Re: Installing Runtime Revolution Livecode
Oddly enough, right now the installer (6.5.2) is working.

Re: Installing Runtime Revolution Livecode
As Livecode 6.5.2 started up it got stuck at the welcome screen which seems impossible to circumvent.
As this Forum does not allow screenshots I would direct interested parties here:

Re: Installing Runtime Revolution Livecode
I couldn't found Livecode 6.5.2, but with Livecode 6.5.0 I was able to get past the welcome screen.
Edit:
I was also able to make a simple program (just a form with a button) with it and generate an executable of it. But it needs a high pain resistence to do that in the current state...
The generated program was also able to run under ReactOS.

richmond62, you have given ReactOS some bad publicity, with the above, which you posted on the linked site! From

Cripes.
This experiment has made me very anti-ReactOS.
If one wants to compare how far Livecode has travelled since 1998 with ReactOS (started 1998) there is no comparison.
I have ReactOS running with 2 Gigs of RAM, but Livecode freezes the system . . .
This doesn't cut the mustard at all.
Mind you, come to think of things, the rationale for ReactOS seems a bit dicky. If you don't like
Windows, or you cannot afford Windows; use Linux, rather than some sort of feeble imitation.
Hvaing tried to restart via the Ctrl-Alt_del dialogue and waiting 30 minutes (see picture) I have had quite enough of ReactOS for
the foreseeable future.
Please keep the Windows classic 9x/2000 look and feel.
The layman's guides - debugging - bug reporting - compiling - ISO remaster.
They may help you with a problem, so do have a look at them.

Just think of ReactOS as the XP beta, Whistler.
Re: Installing Runtime Revolution Livecode
Negative publicity is publicity all the same, but compared to his posts on this forum it feels like stab in the back. Not sure if it's the ReactOS' rationale that is dicky, ROS at least comes in a box with "WARNING: May not work" label.
