Will robots and artificial intelligence replace programmers?

If yes, why robots and artificial intelligence will replace programmers?

If yes, when will programmers get replaced by robots and artificial intelligence?

Yes, not only programmers.

For power and because their human counterparts were too weak/dumb to take proper measures against.
(see e.g. Terminator)

This already happened, but not for programmers: look around at all the "people" dumbly staring at their so-called "smart"-phones.

Хэрмэс, you described "smart" things just right.
-uses Ubuntu+GNOME 3 GNU/Linux
-likes Free (as in freedom) and Open Source Detergents
-favors open source of Windows 10 under GPL2

Really! With a such stupid question is it? AI is not magic or human being.
To make a program you need to have an idea, make a flowchart and after made a program with a language, a robot can't have idea (for the moment and with an AI too), can made some flowchart if it's not too complicate, but the last part (write the code) an AI can normally do this. But who made AI ? ... programmers.
If yes, why robots and artificial intelligence will replace programmers?
In the future, if an AI can make a program, a human should check before release it, and you know what, this human will be a programmer.
If yes, when will programmers get replaced by robots and artificial intelligence?
The AI is in the beginning and the robots are already use in the merge part of the factories but a robot doesn't make software (just follow a program).

I always thought programmers WERE robots...

A more appropriate question might be will robot programmers wear socks with open-toed sandals?

When a conversion program can convert a large VB6 project to VB.NET and it works - then we might start to worry about the ability of robots but until then...NOPE.
