Im not sure who has that ability, but i also looked in the history, and found another 80.*.*.* (altough im not sure you would want to block all those ip adresses

This is too sad....blocking 80.* would block me sometimes, too ;)
I don't think blocking whole ip ranges is a good answer to the problem unless it's confirmed to be ips used bz potential spammers.

Is it not possible to force people to log in before editing the Wiki? surely this would solve the problem...

or at least people could login so we can see at a glace that if a change has a name it is prolly OK, if it is from a ip address it needs to be checked.

It should generally be possible to limit editing of wiki pages to registered users, as it's done here.

80.68.242.97 = redirect to https://control.hw.ru/cgi-bin/cph/index.pl
Moreover, the ip is static, so you can just block 80.68.242.97 by itself, solving the problem.

Just my thoughts,

more pages vandalized

Suggestions:
- Request login for everyone who want to change something in wiki
- Give edit rights only for trusted people, everyone should ask for edit rights from the administrator of ROS wiki.

If someone vandalizes wiki after that, it should be easy to block him/her out and not giving edit rights for that person ever again. You should be able to check is the people trusted or not by just checking the persons posts to discussion groups.

Some idiots definitely don't know what else to do with their spare time... Was it done by the same person?

That still won't for sure prevent such obfuscation. But it'd help a little, I agree. There's another possibility to make the 'wiki' SVN based, which means there are people who review changes and finally apply them. The disadvantage however is, that only certain people finally can make changes...

I'd vote for the requirement of a login, maybe we could combine this with the phpbb user management.

His time the editing has been made by a spam bot (added links to viagra sites and co). Login would have prevented it.

Hear, hear.

It's not like it's a requirement that the Wiki can be edited anonymously. Integrity of the information on it is the foremost priority.

I would require login. This wont restrict anyone, since anyone can create a username, but will prevent spambots, and other things.
