tcpip_revolution

Post by oldman »

The branch tcpip_revolution which was started by jgardou, had it's last commit at revision 65388, 9 months ago, on Wed 12th November 2014!
So:
1. What happend to jgardou?
2. Will anyone else continue the re-write?
Please keep the Windows classic 9x/2000 look and feel.
The layman's guides - debugging - bug reporting - compiling - ISO remaster.

Also TransitionPte, which is for mm, waiting.

I'll try sending a mail to him.

Note: I am aware of all facts (real life, losing interest, being a volunteer etc.) but he has said nothing, which left me (us?) wondering.

It would be a pity to see that for whatever reason he no longer contributes. Clearly one of the more talented programmers to grace the project. When he was under contract, he accomplished quite a bit in a short period of time.

And the people in the know, like Z98 and EmuandCo have not made any comments here!

I was looking forward to the network re-write, because the current state is buggy.

I'm on sabbatical. The only thing I'm doing for the project is keeping an eye on the forum to stamp out spam and preempt any fights.

That's the worst: nobody has done a clear statement if he's gone or taken a break.

He has disappeared suddenly, without saying anything. That's all I know (and confirmed) :(

Nobody has to do an official statement. Everyone is free and no one has to offer his life here. I wish you much fun Z.

True.

True again.

So you must be in the know then!

I remember him coming into the forum, and he could not wait to get stuck into the code! He seemed to be enthusiastically re-working the network code, then suddenly he disappears (though is name appeared once more early this year, I seem to remember), so something dramatic happend! If it is private, then it is private and we have no right to know!

Dear gonzoMD, oldman; you are quite right and I also said I'm aware of all facts.

The thing that makes me sad/wondering, nobody in the project has said anything about that, even in wiki, he is considered "active". Currently, nobody knows if he is "inactive" or "gone".

This is what we know: https://www.reactos.org/node/956
It's not our job to run after any dev who is offline for a while and ask him if he is still alive. Sorry to say that, but you have to wait for him to return.
ReactOS is still in alpha stage, meaning it is not feature-complete and is recommended only for evaluation and testing purposes.

If my post/reply offends or insults you, be sure that you know what sarcasm is...
