This month in ReactOS (2015-10)

This list tracks progress of Core. It does not include the Build Environment, Tests, or Online Services.

This month we saw:
* 314 commits (r69421-r69767) from 16 developers
* 172 new issues created
* 97 issues resolved as fixed (121 resolved overall)

Notable developments
Simplifying the build process
CORE-10121
Previously when building ReactOS, it was first necessary to build a set of tools for the host. The new style builds, now enabled by default, tracks both the host tools and ReactOS. This allows for a single command to build the project.

RApps file verification
CORE-10301
RApps now has support for SHA-1 integrity checks of downloaded packages. This is an optional feature for applications in the manager, which can be used by adding a SHA1 field in the corresponding INI file.

New ext2 file system driver
CORE-10272
Matt Wu’s ext2 file system driver has replaced the existing ext2 file system driver.

UEFI Boot loader progress
Alex Ionescu has made another progress dump of his UEFI boot loader work. His work this month provides an initial implementation for reading, parsing, mounting, and loading the BCD hive into a data store.

The ReactOS developer monthly meeting took place today, 29 October. Look for the meeting minutes soon (i.e., whenever dreimer has time for it).

Amine has made creating issues on JIRA less intimidating. "Create Issue" has been simplified to the most used fields. Additional fields may still be modified after creating the issue.

DBMS Linter BASION successfully tested on ReactOS. (Russian)

Thanks for this post, though I read the reports posted in Jira daily, it is nice to read someone else's take on them, especially when they know much more than I do. And you have basically answered a question that I had yet to ask about the build system.

Nice! I hope this will remove the "JIRA bureaucracy" argument.

I applaud this monthly report as well

Since each report will probably get its own post, could you please rename the post name to reflect the month?

What a great initiative, and well presented.
I hope you have the time to present a monthly account, if so forum members and visitors will see at a glance that this project is VERY much alive and kicking, and all those participating in the progression have never taken their eye off the ball or foot of the gas!

freeldr.ini has nothing to do with GPT/MBR/ whatever else. Better ask whether freeldr.sys will be compatible with GPT systems. The answer is "probably".

NTLDR does not make use of boot.ini in GPT systems and GPT NTLDR shares part of code with MBR NTLDR. I have got curious about that.
