The progress bar is slightly optimistic at the moment. It works on the number of directories, but a few empty directories are in the audited code at the moment.

Progress will also be quick initially, slowing towards the end.

Thanks for the support. Threads like these are always welome :)

Some facts:

dirs counter:
audited: 113 directories
old tree: 907 directories

= 12 %

files counter:
audited: 1120 files
old tree: 9005 files

= 12 %

So it doesn't matter much.

It wouldn't look as good if you counted the amount of code that will actually build, or the number of files on the CD.

If you want to count a module as audited as soon there is all clean code moved to the new repro. For example: We have moved the kernel in, but had to remove half of the code. The the perfect method would be to open all .xml/.rbuild files and search for "<module " that will find for
example

Code: Select all

<module name="ddraw" type="win32dll" installbase="system32" installname="ddraw.dll">
And then compare the number of occurrences. But the current method is exact enough.
It wouldn't look as good if you counted the amount of code that will actually build, or the number of files on the CD.
Of course the number at the beginning increases faster because we can just move all obviously clean stuff in (e.g. rbuild)
Where do you want ReactOS to go today ?

i have to say i'm impressed!

i really hope this project survives long enough to be useable! i can't see how it can't be a success, even if the new vista comes out and changes everything, as far as i can see, the current windows generation does everything .... what could possibly be so different on the new one ? (have a feeling i'll regreat saying that)

anyway my point is, people still use dos, windows 3.11... even BeOS and manage to carry on, i hear some people even use linux...

i think there should be a reactos car..with hte atom logo on the bonnet..

Well, with the progress bar on the main page, we can now officially smack anyone that comes along and asks "How far along is the audit?"

It's funny, even though I know that Brits and Aussies say 'bonnet' for 'hood', being a stupid American, it's still funny whenever I hear it.

So, how far along is the audit?

Well I don't think either choice would sound funny, but it's probably fair to say that English people probably have more exposure to American words than the other way round.
