It's nothing to get worked up about. It was just to fix a big vulnerability that was being used by ransomware. Win Vista, 7, 8.1, and 10 users would have already received the patches in March when it was discovered. They didn't offer it through the Windows update, as far as I am concerned, so people have to download it manually. Still, it is nice they did this for XP users. I guess since XP was their golden OS, they figured it would be nice to do it and it was also a pretty bad ransomware attack.
