Hi folks, I will buy a new laptop and I found that those who comes with windows 10 pre installed are very expensive ... out of my budget.
Well, looking for another segment of laptops I found two that comes with FreeDOS pre installed and are a lot cheaper, and of course the aim is install reactos on the laptop.

I found these 2 models:
https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp ... /c05480943 (Intel Celeron N3060)
https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp ... /c05085353 (AMD E2-7110)

According with the developer's experience, which of these models is more recommended for installing reactos and the drivers compatibility?

Thanks so much guys for your answers.

Celeron is good.
Optical drive Optional DVD+/-RW Double-Layer writer (sold separately or as an optional feature)
Buy the cd drive with the laptop. ReactOS can't be installed by usb.

There seems to be little difference between the two machines. Mostly the processor (which ROS doesn't care about), the graphics card (which tend to work equally well with VESA drivers) and the chipset (which may make a big difference but unless you know in advance which one's gonna have which chipset and somebody has already tested it in ROS, you can't predict which is better).
Some people have listed systems that they've tested at https://www.reactos.org/wiki/PC_ROS_Rigs, so that can work as a guide. But for most hardware, you can't predict much, you just have to try it.

For the moment it is not possible until full USB support will be ready.
See https://reactos.org/wiki/LiveUSB

Test these methods:

* You can test if vgal bootUSB build works in installing ReactOS using USB:

Finally I had to choose the AMD:

The box arrives tomorrow and afaik there is no optical drive, so I must install reactos from usb or at least loading the iso from hard disk

I wanted to add the HP Probook 4540s to the list (Which is NOT working).
But I couldn't, because reChapta V1 has been shutdown.

Just actually put in what it says

Code: Select all

reCAPTCHA V1 IS SHUTDOWN
Just copy and paste that into the captcha box

After a day of fighting with linux and grub4dos, finally ReactOS is installed on the harddisk, but has some problems detecting the hardware (https://jira.reactos.org/browse/CORE-14617), but while not reaching these new hardware wizards the system is full usabe.

You use "ReactOS Live-in-RAM USB-stick creation tutorial" by Hermès Bélusca method, right?
Could you describe the entire process (as an algorithm if possible)?

Nope, I did first a bootable usb stick with grub4dos and installed tinycore linux, also downloaded the required extensions to get QEMU working, and after copied a bootcd iso to the stick, so, I power on the laptop, selected to boot from usb, tinycore started, reformatted the hard disk, open a terminal, and start QEMU with /dev/sda as the hard disk (the real hard disk) and the bootcd as the cdrom device, was so easy and got ReactOS installed on hard disk from a usb stick.
