Not that I am complaining or anything, but how come this was released so soon?

I meant why is it going through testing so early. Usually it is every 3 months or so. Just curious.

From IRC:

<cernodile> isn't 0.4.9 RC out a bit too early? like it's only been a month since last release
<cernodile> that's way off 3 month schedule
<@hbelusca> it takes usually 1 month between the branch + starting RCs and the official release.
My working rigs:
Dell Latitude E5430 on 0.4.9-vgal - i5-3340M, USB boot.
Partially working rigs:
Ryzen 7 3700X on B450 board - 0.4.14 boot via preinstall. USB broken.

Perhaps the testing for release 0.4.9 seems early because release 0.4.8 required much more time than usual to go from fork (off the main development branch) to release. This noticeably slowed the 3 month (approximately 90 days) cadence that the devs (development team members) have striven to achieve since release 0.4.0.

Code: Select all

Release Date of Release Days Since Prior Release
=======    ===============    ========================
 0.4.0 2016-02-17 --
 0.4.1 2016-05-17 90
 0.4.2 2016-08-16 91
 0.4.3 2016-11-16 92
 0.4.4 2017-02-16 92
 0.4.5 2017-05-18 91
 0.4.6 2017-09-02 107
 0.4.7 2017-12-06 95
 0.4.8 2018-04-15 130

I have finished my usual tests of some included and additional software in VBox 5.1 with ROS 0.4.9 RC32. Results are at the top of my usual thread: https://reactos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=15811. Did not find any clear regressions.

4.8 seems to have been a very productive release though at least.

I noticed the PCnetIII driver didn't load in my mv vboxvm PCnetII did though... on a nightly from 6/7

I can download large files (1.1GB Indusoft 8.1 installer) but CPU usage gets higher and higher so pausing and restarting is still required in Firefox... its kind of my stress test I run :D also previously I was able to actually run the installer now the sentinel dongle driver fails as it did before, then when you continue the installer just bombs out.... previously as of 4.8 it would allow you to mostly install everything else.
