OS development question.

Post by WilliamTi » Mon Mar 11, 2019 4:12 am

Would compiling firefox in ReactOS make it more likely to run than if it was compiled in Windows?

Just curious as to why and maybe some advice as to where to look to read about it. I figure the syscalls would be already known by the compiler.

If you use the same compiler, you should get the same executable (minus timestamps and such, and ReactOS bugs).
Windows applications do not use syscalls directly, they instead link to system dlls (ntdll.dll contains the syscall stubs, but Win32 applications aren't usually supposed to use those NT functions directly, and use wrapper functions from kernel32.dll and friends).
