Hi,
Wondering if anyone here succeeded in using FL-Studio (Fruity Loop), Reaper DAW, Tracktion DAW or Ableton Live DAW... all music production software, on ReactOS ? Does ReactOS support ASIO drivers ?
I suppose that ReactOS runs well as in VM using say Virtualbox or KVM hypervisors, right ? I've seen some youtube video showing it running on VMware Player.
Hopefully some of the free anti-virus, anti-malware, anti-ransomware software also work reasonably on ReactOS ?
regards,
BD

ReactOS is like Windows XP/Server 2003.bdutta wrote: ↑Mon May 27, 2019 7:06 am Hi,

If Fruity Loop still supports Windows XP and/or has a Windows XP binaries in archive, you should try run it under ReactOS and see what happens...
Advices:
* Create an .iso with Fruity Loop Windows XP binaries in it and mount it in the Virtual Machines in which you install ROS,
* Boot with "ReactOS (Logfile)" option .
* Submit the "debug.log" (localed in C:\ReactOS) and screenshots in JIRA bug report (I assume that some problems running in ROS will be). There is no bug report concerning Fruity Loop yet. Be the first to do it!
* In case of VirtualBox, go to VM directory, locate the .VDI /.VHD VM files and open it using 7zip (under Windows). Or mounting the .VHD file using Disk Mount program under Ubuntu Linux for example.
Note that in Windows BtrFS filesystem cannot be recognized by Windows, so your ROS installation must be in FAT32 if using Windows.

Don't forget, ReactOS is in development, it's not ready for use in daily real life.Hopefully some of the free anti-virus, anti-malware, anti-ransomware software also work reasonably on ReactOS ?

Thanks @Quim and @shunesburg. I had to uninstall ReactOS because I just couldn't get basic sound working on it. In spite of choosing sound device as AC'97, I couldn't successfully get sound. I did try to install the AC'97 driver through Application Manager. This was in Virtualbox latest. Can take it for a spin again if I find some Wiki/tutorial on how to get sound working correctly, on Virtualbox.

Well, sound is broken in ROS.

Ah, is it? I saw some Wiki article on how to get AC'97 sound working, but that didn't work for me. I tried both last released version and also the nightly builds.

I've dabbled a bit with DAWs like FL Studio and Ableton Live, but I've gotta say, I haven't tried them on ReactOS. From what I know, ReactOS is still a bit of a work in progress when it comes to compatibility with more complex software.
