ReactOS background

After about 5 hours of lurking around in the source code, I got bored, switched to a graphics program, and came up with this:

Not bad for a first try, but I've got a few suggestions:

- the colours, especially the green, is far too bright. Tone it down a bit.
- the font you used for 'ReactOS' seems a bit out of place, probably because of the 3D setup you used for the rest. The lines don't seem to fit in very well, either.

My suggestion would be to move the text to another place on the image, possibly more to the corners, and use a 'stronger' font (or perhaps the current font in bold). And drop the lines.

BTW, I like how you used the Windows colours in such an inconspicuous manner ;)

Looks very nice!
But I agree with Elledan's suggestions.

Here is a site you can submit it to if you like: http://www.reactos.net.tc

Thanks for the suggestions, I need it!!!!

Anyway, this wasn't really intended to be professional. I'm a programmer, not a graphics designer ;) Thanks anyhow.

I agree that the lines need to go. I never really liked them in the first place :D

(BTW, for those of you who haven't figured it out, it's the windows logo cut up and stacked on top of each other)

Suggesting stuff is easy, doing the actual work is the hard part ;)

Oh, I think it looks fine :)

Tell me, how did you make this image? Which software did you use?

er.... actually I created it with a freeware mesh editor, and rendered it with a renderer of my own creation, called LAVA. It's still in very early stages and I wouldn't consider releasing it. When I do, it's probably going to be open source...
