Translating ReactOS (the word)

It is possible to change ReactOS into 레악운영체제 (re-at-un-yong-che-je) (there is no way to fit the k sound in there). 운영체제 (un-yong-che-je) means Operating System.

I am wondering wheather ReactOS should be translated as such (레악운영체제)?

Or should we use 운영체제반동하아요 (un-yong-che-je-tong-ha-a-yo), which means "Operating system that reacts?"

Or shoud we just use ReactOS?

Polls don't work to well:
First Option is 레악운영체제 (re-at-un-yong-che-je)
Second Option is 운영체제반동하아요 (un-yong-che-je-tong-ha-a-yo)

Just use Reactos. When I go googling for a problem I don't want to have to use many different names each time I change lang.

Almost all names of companies and products are universal.

Coca Cola is the same in almost every country

I think you have misunderstood what zoohoo meant, it's not a font problem. He want to translate the word "ReactOS" to chinese.
There is no need to translate ReactOS (the word), imho. "ReactOS" is a registered trademark and/or trademark in the USA and in other countries.

The original poster uses Korean, not Chinese :)

I thought that Western-style names are quite commonly used in Korea already?

Alternatively 'ReactOS' could have the Korean reading in a smaller font below it or so.

When transalting something you should know that names must not be translated. There are some exceptions but ReactOS is not an exception. I've voted for "ReactOS".

OK, we can use ReactOS (what I've been using).

Just so you know Korean has about 40 phoetic letters and is not huge like chinese, related, but not huge. http://thinkzone.wlonk.com/Language/Korean.gif

Chinese: 一門二龍。
Korean: 일문 용이.
English: One gate, two dragons.

Yeah, I know, but dragon and gate are the only things I could find.

See...

No, http://www.cocacola.co.kr/ , has 코카-콜라, and that sounds like coka-cola.

Tastes the same though :D .

What about ReactOS Foundation, should Foundation be changed to its Korean counterpart.

It's Korean, see the example above.

Font: http://chem.skku.ac.kr/~wkpark/project/ ... Dinaru.ttf

More in this directory: http://chem.skku.ac.kr/~wkpark/project/ ... /20040807/

Page that says GPL and more info http://kldp.net/projects/unfonts/.

Yes, an example is 컴퓨터 (compyuto), that means computer. Korean borrowed it from English, and fixed it up for Korean.

The HTML:
<ruby>
<rb>레악운영체제</rb>
<rt>(ReactOS)</rt>
</ruby>

would do the trick (in Mozilla). Otherwise it would come out as 레악운영체제 (ReactOS)

리엑트 looks better than what I had... but I think 오에스 would be prounounced o-e-s, with a short O and E

People are not supposed to know the latin alphabeth and if they know it they may not feel comfortable with it, which is a reason to transliterate "ReactOS".
