I don't know if it's a good idea because it sounds maybe too similar to Direct X, but it is funny,

What about...

Nice concept. Simple, suggestive, effective...

my position about MadHat's posting:

React fX - maybe the best, not too similar to Direct X

Open fX - shows clearly that it is Opensource, but there are many Programs with names like Open* therefore it doesn't sound very unique

Regal fX - ROS emulation and graphical abstract layer, great acronym, has a deeper sense. By the way, in German "Regal" means a kind of furniture...

Soft fX - Sounds like properitary Software, I wouldn't take this name.

Suggestion: We could start an poll if there are no more ideas

I can make the icon and the vector version today/tommorow if you are interested.
Of course! :D
OpenDX, like OpenGL, OpenAL....
As it was already said in this thread 2 times, OpenDX already exists!!

AtomX

Perhaps the name AtomX? (in reference to the logo) This should eliminate the confusion with ReactOS, but is still similar enough to DirectX (mostly because of its X)

AtomX
Atom3D
AtomSound

ReactX is a bit less of a tongue-twister though..

Lol, so maybe this is a hint and it should be called.. FurnitureX

AtomX is nice imo, or something else related to an atom.. ProtonX,
NeutronX, AtomicX, ...

AtomX seems nice (since it pronounces as Atomic), but it could be confusing with the Open source RSS Atom software... I still prefer ReactX

Ok, finally I've finished the icons and the vector version. I had a little spare time and I also made a wallpaper.

Is it just me or does that look similar to the Xbox 360 logo? Don't want to give Microsoft ANOTHER thing to sue us over ;)

Also for the vector version, it would've been nice if you used Inkscape and saved it in an open vector format, SVG. Oh well...

Other than that, I like it :)
