ScummVM works!

Post by loki1985 »

hi folks!

am in a hurry, just wanted to inform all of you that the fantastic adventure game interpreter ScummVM works in ROS (tested in snapshot from mid january, in virtual PC, should work on real hardware, too).

it is a bit slow, and the second time when trying to move the window ROS froze...

sound doesn't work, off course...

but the best thing of this is: this prooves that major parts (like threading, graphics etc.) of the windows DLL of SDL (Simple DirectMedia Layer) work on ROS. and since many applications like emulators and games are based on the SDL, this is nice to know!

best regards,

no you can't. They are still being sold. However there are some free games (and some demos) you can download from the scummvm website.

I already tried it 2 weeks ago and mentioned it in chat (Hi HUMA :))and didn't post it, because the games hang short time after booting. For example in DOTT (Day of Tentacle) the purple tentacle does never stop talking. SamnMax shows only the first movie. So it does NOT really work.

If you find any LucasArts games in stores though, I'd definitely recommend getting them. Considering their age, I wouldn't expect them to be too expensive.

Yes I have allready played most of them, but I don't have them anymore, but from time to time they come together with some PC Manazines.
