ReactOS in developing countries?

Post by sam32 »

when ReactOS reaches beta (or higher) would it be useful in developing countries?

I know there is already windows XP starter edition which costs less than XP home but it's quite limited. reactos is free and works well on slower (refurbished) computers so maybe eventually it would be a viable and free alternative.

It could also be beneficial to startup companies that require multiple Windows licenses for operation but cannot afford them.

The answer is No. But at 1.0 - maybe.

Why 1.0? Wine was useable ages before 1.0.
ReactOS is still in alpha stage, meaning it is not feature-complete and is recommended only for evaluation and testing purposes.

Developing Countries Most Students I know bought the $30 copy of Win7

As for the rest having to shell out $99 - $199
I dont know a single person who didn't pirate it and then just install a pirated copy of Office 2007 and AVG Free.
MS needs to get in touch they have a strong market share but haven't changed in 15 years.

As for React Os. I feel we can create a nitch in the 3rd world and do quite well. For now though we need to focus on adding compatibility and building stability as the project has been doing for sometime now.

Why use some thing illegally when one can get ROS for free? I think ROS will be better than Win too. :ugeek:
