[idea] Integrated a/v transcoding tool
I know that's not a priority but, in today *Tube days, it would be great to have an integrated easy tool to manage a/v file transcodings.
Something simple (and functional), non-invasive tool like this (a GPL FFMpeg/Mencoder GUI) would be great IMHO:

SGI's Video Converter GUI
Hope that inspires.

This is something most users don't use, can't agree on which one is best to use and can easily be downloaded and installed by the user. I don't see any reason it should be a core part of the system. No other programs rely on it or it's features.

Re: [idea] Integrated a/v transcoding tool
it wont be added as core app for sure, because windows does not have such a app by default too. but feel free to suggest me such a app which i can add to our rapps tool.
ReactOS is still in alpha stage, meaning it is not feature-complete and is recommended only for evaluation and testing purposes.

Not any more it doesn't; Movie Maker is now part of the Microsoft Live Essentials package and not shipped with Windows. Forget how it was with XP. ReactOS is not XP.forart wrote:Windows have Movie Maker.
I agree with Phalanx and EmuandCo that this sort of application should not be part of a ReactOS install.

Re: [idea] Integrated a/v transcoding tool
But Windows *has* WMP too (which is able to convert to WMA, etc. too)...
I mean that an easy tool that manages media files convertions would be really useful to any standard user, IMHO.

but if I don't fail got MS judged not include the WMP to windows as core part in some countries, so you see that wmp does not belong to windows itself

We hardly have working audio cards and you want a Media Converter... as you wish, find one which can be built with RosBE and I will ask the others.

Re: [idea] Integrated a/v transcoding tool
First we need to be able to copy a whole CD to HDD without crashing... or run a single app several number of times.
Re: [idea] Integrated a/v transcoding tool
And Linux has mplayer
I don't understand why would we care about what Haiku does or does not.
Re: [idea] Integrated a/v transcoding tool
Linux itself doesn't have mplayer; some Linux distro's have mplayer.mrugiero wrote: And Linux has mplayer

Re: [idea] Integrated a/v transcoding tool
Indeed, what I mean is: Haiku is not NT clone, is BeOS clone, BeOS was thought for multimedia, BeOS clones are supossed to have an a/v transcoding tool by default, NT hasn't, I don't see why would it be one in ReactOS if you can easily download and install it (in a finished version, of course).

Then you wanna a Movie Maker clone ?mrugiero wrote:Indeed, what I mean is: Haiku is not NT clone, is BeOS clone, BeOS was thought for multimedia, BeOS clones are supossed to have an a/v transcoding tool by default, NT hasn't, I don't see why would it be one in ReactOS if you can easily download and install it (in a finished version, of course).
Sorry, i don't agree: i would prefer to have a *useful* tool to manage media transcodings.
BTW just an idea, don't worry.
