Bsod when booting revision 48509

Post by oldman »

ReactOS revision 48509.
Computer: Intel desktop motherboard D645HV, Pentium4 1.6Ghz processor, 128Mhz ram, Samsung cdrw/dvd sm-3488.

Hard drive is partitioned into C: and D: (50% - 50%).

I have installed revision 48509 from yesterday and I cannot boot into it. I get a bsod (see below).

Is this a known problem? I did not find anything in Bugzilla.

Yes, it is.
Try resetting several times the computer, eventually try also with 48517.

I have switched off after a bsod and then switched back on again and it booted ok.
I have installed 48518 from Caemyr, and get a bsod when trying to install software.
Only tried a couple of programmes before giving up.

What software did you try to install, that ended up in bugcheck (BSOD)?

Java jre, the version I cannot remember (I am away from my test computer).
It Bsoded at the first installation window, when I clicked to close the explorer window.

In the past, before the Bsod screen was implemented, I would get a desktop lockup doing the above, but not necessary with the same software.

I have had the jre install go all the way in the past, but fail to be found by software that required it.

Since when are you following the project? BSOD was implemented quite long ago.
If you have now a BSOD and you were having a lockup before is because now you are using a non-debug cd (or running a bootcd in Normal mode) and you were using before a debugcd(which locks because KDBG has jumped so you can obtain a debuglog).

Since when are you following the project?
For about 10 years or so, when Jason Filby was the co-ordinator and Ros booted into a blue screen.
But for many years I was not in a position to down load Ros.
It is only within the past year that I have been doing some testing with software.

I have only noticed bsods for about 3 months, before (as said above) I would have the desktop lockup.
I always test in normal mode and if I find any problem, I can then fire up another computer to gather the debug info (now that I have got a null modem cable), with Ros running in debug mode.

When I make a post, it is to try and help, and I hope that some of my contributions have been helpful.
I am no expert and may even sound stupid at times.
