ReactOS Explorer Revamp

Post by Pi_User5 »

For fun, I forked the explorer_old source code and start tinkering with it. This is what I've done in only 2 hours:

Start menu:

Quick launch:

Fixed subitems:

Download: https://www.mediafire.com/folder/g0mb1u0y3l37h/revamp

What I mean by fixed subitems is the old explorer uses the same icons that are used for the main folder as the 16 pixel ones resulting in the blurry scaled down icons. As you can see I also removed menu items and added better icons. Tell me what you think!

Why don't you do that in explorer_new code?

The old explorer had many issues. ;)

Here's a list of open issues that I've fixed that need to be committed.

? The old explorer is dead. Has David not deleted it from the repo, cause at this point it serves no purpose.

Not completely, It's in rosapps as historical relict ^^
ReactOS is still in alpha stage, meaning it is not feature-complete and is recommended only for evaluation and testing purposes.

If my post/reply offends or insults you, be sure that you know what sarcasm is...

True. There are some programs that are maintained such as cat or the NTFS information tool.

If you're interested in making a better start menu, then implementing CPersonalStartMenu would be much more useful.

Where would I need to start? Any examples would be nice.

I'm not that good with programming C and C++. :)
