ReactOS UI Concept
Hi everyone! I want to introduce the concept of user interface for ReactOS.

2nd : normal explorer with an unwrapped menu.

3rd : explorer on all workspace path string deployed in the console.
I hope to provide a demonstration UI in web.

Re: ReactOS UI Concept
Is this Explorer (file browser) and the menu on the right is that one which would appear after pressing Alt?
Re: ReactOS UI Concept
It is possible by clicking on the right boundary, or by pressing the Alt key on your keyboard.

I really like it! I don't think the devs would be interested though, their goal is to recreate Windows 2003's Explorer. You should look into making your own Explorer! Maybe it can be put into Rapps.
Re: ReactOS UI Concept
Thank you.
I understand that developers are not interested in such. However, I believe that support for domestic themes based on CSS3 addn't interfere. Need API that can provide the necessary functionality.

Re: ReactOS UI Concept
It resembles Windows 10.
I like it, simple and minimalistic

Re: ReactOS UI Concept
Thanks. During minidemo on web. I'd manage to write js client for Xserver.
Re: ReactOS UI Concept
I don't like this design. In my opionion flat design is just plain ugly - no matter whether it is from Microsoft, Apple, Google, or anybody else.
Re: ReactOS UI Concept
Right - a matter of taste. However, you aren't forced to use similar themes - you can disable them! Minimalism showed himself very well - it's not overloaded and better perceived and remembered by the user. Flat - I agree on the fan, although there is a very attractive solution.
Re: ReactOS UI Concept
Yes and no. Flat design also means minimalistic icons, usually monochrome. And speaking of those icons I cannot agree at all. By making icons minimalistic and monochrome, you take much information out of them and then they become difficult to distinguish. For instance I never had problems to use a complex UI like Visual Studio up to version 2010. Then Microsoft decided to make most icons monochrome and flat. Starting with VS 2012 I have huge problems to use the UI, because for me all icons look the same. I know brains do not work all the same and there are people out there for whom minimalistic icons are easier to remember. But I need the color and shadows to remember icons.bfg2407 wrote:it's not overloaded and better perceived and remembered by the user
I have similar problems in Windows 10. There the icons are not that much a problem (because you never have many of them in one place), but I sometimes do not know where I can click, because buttons sometimes are just text, so I cannot see what is a button and what is not a button.
Re: ReactOS UI Concept
I understand your point , I try both - or consider it . I 'm against only monochrome icons , but how to implement color - I have not decided yet .
