hmm.. no, you said "My icons" or something like that... just because you edited your post (as we can all see) doesn't mean you didn't say it

Even that is not fully legal.

I'm not entirely sure whether you just lack an understanding of copyright law or you're just ignoring it. However, the ReactOS project has to obey such rules. The name of this thread is A 100% original/official icon theme for ReactOS? and we mean that. Yes, there are established conventions. We use folders, computers, trash cans, whatever. What you did was literally retinting of the images, which is not acceptable. Think things through before you do something like this.

For Kevin: i can understand you excitement to post stuff for the project, but be calm. Manage your energies to do the right thing, flood random posting don't accellerate the grow....

I suggest you to search *better* if you wanna port stuff to ROS legally (check my post@MSFN to understand what i mean) and to involve 3rd-party icons/themes artists (as I already suggested here).

...or if you wanna organize something more ambitious:
forart wrote:Well, my idea is in the middle of yours.

We could raise another icon contest but for ROS asking contribs to release their works under an open source license (creative commons, maybe).

We could also ask the recent Haiku Icon Contest's author the web engine of the Desktop Visualizer that is very cool for right evaluation (to me).

Ideas are welcomed !
forart wrote:note: i aslo suggest you to ask shell teams/artists to support ROS, that would mean spreading of it (for example: there's no search results for "reactos" on SKINBASE.org...)
More contributors more fun !!! 8)

For others: try to be constructive, so don't kill users enthusiasm but try to drive them instead.

that desktop virtualizer for an icon contest sounds great to me.. seems like the best way to preview the icon set... I vote for that :D

That's cool! But I am not sure if using that would break the Mozilla licence ;)

We're fine. We're not making any modifications to Firefox's code.

ROSFan: You obviously have talent. This raises a question. Why have you not created an icon set to replace the horrible looking ones we currently have?

First of all, I don't know how it happend, I wanted to post it to the "ReactOS Background" section. As I can see the wallpaper can be misundersood. What I mean with "Supporting the future" is that Firefox is one of the first/most important programs which can be started in ReactOS.

Creating an icon set:
There are so many open icon sets which look very good, the question is, does it make any sense to create another one.

http://www.kde-look.org/index.php?xcontentmode=22

On the other site it is true, that there is no icon set created extra for ReactOS. If you wish I can do it but:
-Next time I'll be too busy. In autumn I'll have more time for such things
-First I have to think a creative and realistic idea and consistent style
-Once I have a good design idea I need a list of all kinds of needed icons (Folder, shared folder, Browser, Control Panels, explorer...)

If you wish, I'm happy to help. :D

ROSFan: i think there is absoultely no hurry in creation of such things, but acheveing 0.4 with ROS-specific icons would be nice experience.

BTW about icons list:

quite long, eh?
