Re: Suggestion #2 is out!
Your design suggestion should really be taken in account by the developpers, it's really good !!Dominik wrote:Well, after a long time Design Suggestion #2 is out.

Re: new look.
Hi.
Beware, if you make it look that good, people will be even more impatient
to have it running fully
Good look, I like it a lot. Let it be a lesson to those who think they cannot
help because they are not programmers.

As you probably know, you can now edit freeloader to look like the NT bootloader with
[Display]
ShowTime=No
MinimalUI=Yes
MenuBox=No
CenterMenu=No
TimeText=Seconds until highlighted choice will be started automatically:
MenuTextColor=Gray
MenuColor=Black
TextColor=Gray
SelectedTextColor=Black
SelectedColor=Gray
well you can make it look similar to Dominik's suggestion with
[Display]
ShowTime=No
MinimalUI=Yes
MenuBox=Yes
CenterMenu=Yes
MenuTextColor=White
MenuColor=Black
TextColor=White
SelectedTextColor=Black
SelectedColor=Gray
Simply open freeldr.ini in notepad and edit the [display] section
Note: it does not look quite as nice as Dominik's suggestion

Wrong.Dominik wrote:well seems like no one is anymore interrested in it
I am very interested in your designs, and in improving the interface as a whole. I know Alex Ionescu is also interested in this area,
I've already looked into updating current icons, however there are rednering problems at the moment. It's been traced back to a few issues in win32k which need to be resolved.
You aren't in IRC much promoting your ideas though, that would help get them noticed. 80% of developers don't use the forums.

i love the clean interface and the colors (and the logo). i think blows vista away (the classic log on style is more secure too IMO).

which one? lots of people like xp and lots of people complained about abandoning 2k look. lots of tweaks came out to make xp look more like 2k. vista won't look like xp anyway.Dominik wrote:maybe but we want to create a windows nt compilant os so we want to use a windows nt like gui too.
i think more people will be happy with a look more like ros already looks, or more like vista, than if anyone tries to make ros look like xp.
but even tho i'll try to push 2k or vista (if i had to choose between vista and xp, awful xp fisherprice child toy colors, ugh) my comprimise is always there, i'm not the average user, i can always litestep out of whatever shell look you wonderful people make default.
and if you change the gui to look more like xp, it stands to reason it will eventually be updated again to look more like vista anyway. tis best reason to push vista look anyway, imo. i think MS fixed vista to atone for xp gui, myself.

Great news to have icon designers interested. If we could convinve some of the major actors of the windows skinning community to contribute, this would be awesome.Patchworks wrote: afterglow design are interested to port their icons to ReactOS.
DESIGNMOOD, MIDLAND and Xeader claimed that are interested in ReactOS graphics too...[/url]
