Motherboard Drivers

Post by Davethewave »

Hi, I have a gigabyte and was wondering how I install my MOBO drivers with the CD so it can see my SATAs and soundcard? also how to install drivers for my wireless card, it is Trendnet TEW-423 PI? I press setup but it doesn't do anything, do I have to use a console or command prompt? thanks :D

Hey Dave.

Unfortunately ReactOS is in such an incomplete state that not all drivers work, even less have been tested, and there is no easy install routine.

Right now the installation routine for drivers consists of copying over the driver files to a directory and importing registry keys posted online. If they have not been posted online, then you need to monitor the install of the drivers in windows, and copy over the registry keys created during that install.

You can see examples here.

ReactOS also does not have a wireless network manager, even if your wireless drivers can be loaded. IF your wireless adapter comes with one, it may work.

If your SATA adapter is a VIA, this with the info on the VT8237 might be able to help.

But putting aside all this, ReactOS is in such an early state that we recommend you just use virtual hardware like vmware player or qemu instead of real hardware to test it out. See the bottom of this page for more info.
