help me with hooks

Hello there I am trying to hook FindNextFile function to hide certain files in windows.
Every time the explorer crashes.
Can someone tell me why is that .
I mean is there another way to hide files in windows NT
I would be glad to find out a kernel mode way :) and if someone would help :)
if u want I ll give u a code snippet

Hiding files isn't easy and is normally done by way of a rootkit.

I don't understand why you think hooking FindNextFile would solve this, it's a function to return file/directory information.
