0.3.3 Build Questions

Post by mikeytown2 »

I installed RosBE-0.3.3.exe and i ran "GCC 3.4.5 ReactOS Build Environment" from the start menu (My base system is XP Home). I type in make and press enter

Code: Select all

C:\RosBE>make
mingw32-make: *** No targets specified and no makefile found. Stop.
I try make bootcd

Code: Select all

C:\RosBE>make bootcd
mingw32-make: *** No rule to make target `bootcd'. Stop.
what the heck do i need to do???

I want to make a bootable installation CD for a 1ghz AMD Duron Box i got laying around.

I looked up
http://www.reactos.org/wiki/index.php/H ... or_Windows
and
http://www.reactos.org/wiki/index.php/Building_ReactOS

do i need a Subversion client? If so why doesn't the installer mention that (make it very obvious), or do it for me? One idea would be to make a autoit script (http://www.autoitscript.com/) to help out/automate the installation process. Right now in my mind the make process is not very user friendly since i couldn't get it working by blind clicking/guessing.

Any help would be appreciated

First you need to check out the SVN sources so you have something to make the build from, look here:
http://www.reactos.org/wiki/index.php/R ... ep-by-step
http://www.reactos.org/wiki/index.php/Subversion

then when you install RosBE it asks wher you have the ReactOS folder, this is very important for RosBE to work, it is supposed to be something like this: c:\ReactOS\Trunk\reactos

If you already have the SVN checked out you may only need to cd to the c:\ReactOS\Trunk\reactos folder and then type "make bootcd"

yes you will need a Subversion client, the build environment does not contain the reactos source code, that is separate.

Sweet thanks for the quick response! Good luck with ReactOS. If it is possible the dev team should look into including more driver support. If you could get this integrated
http://www.driverpacks.net/DriverPacks/ ... iverPacks/
or at least have an option when building the ISO to include these massive driver libraries, i think this project would become more useful to the general public.

Here is an example of a windows xp install DVD doing exactly this

Thanks again!

Devs have already refused to incorporate driver packs for licensing reasons. As for incorporating drivers yourself, that might or might not become possible later on with the LiveCD, if the installer gets integrated with it.
