Call for volunteers: invalidated issue review

Post by erkinalp »

Phase One - ReactOS itself
There are 1598 invalidated issues currently tracked on ReactOS JIRA, concerning both standard flavours of the operating system. 34 per person per day, 24 reviewers will be sufficient to review all them.

34 issues sure doesn't sound like much granted that all the reviewers have the necessary edit rights.
We recently added a new resolution "Postponed" as decided in ReactOS developers meeting. I had proposed that in ONLINE-805.
Rules:
  1. This review covers issues resolved or closed with incomplete or won't fix resolution Core ReactOS and Arwinss subprojects.
  2. Each issue is to be reviewed by one reviewer during review.
  3. Each reviever shall review issues he has been assigned from smallest ticket number to largest ticket number.
  4. If a Core ReactOS issue is also present in Arwinss and filed separately in both projects, one reviewer shall review both. Priority is in Core ReactOS one.
  5. Every day, reviewers are requested to report to review coordinator (TBD) to coordinate the earliest issue remaining. That way, we can redistribute issues among reviewers as review progresses to let each work equally.

Phase Two - ReactOS Building Environment and Automated Tests
There are 43 such issues. One reviewer will be sufficient to review all them.
This will commence once review on OS itself has been finished.
Phase Three - ReactOS Online Service
There are 123 such issues. 25 per person, 5 reviewers will be sufficient to review all them.
This will commence once review on OS itself has been finished.

All bugs need to have statuses accounted correctly. This call is just for that.

Stop it. The only way to see latest activity in jira is seeing the activity log and getting emails from bug reports. If you spam jira like that we won't be able to keep track wtf is happening, what new reports get opened, what real work towards fixing bugs takes place. It will all be flooded in this stupid task to repair the fucking past. You have to realize that we do not allow editing closed reports to this bug extend because it HINDERS FIXING real BUGS.

You have already realised that reviewing (not fixing) 38 issues takes one day and a half at worst.

Which part of "we do not allow editing closed reports" don't you get? You keep commenting on reports closed years ago...

We also have "we do not allow duplicate reports" rule. It is reasonable to reopen the issue if an issue reoccurs on a new version under same circumstances.

Of course. It is not reasonable to link reports closed months ago.
