Direct manipulation of Windows registry files?

Post by tonik »

Seeing how ReactOS seems to have a read/write driver for Windows registry files (c:\windows\system32\config\*), I wonder if someone has already put together the wine redegit GUI and the registry driver backend? Is there work ongoing?

Having a regedit-like program capable of working with registry files directly instead of relying on Windows API would be extremely useful, for recovery purposes to begin with.

There is a regedit in both Wine and ReactOS, but both use the Win32 API.

The commercal DOS tool is nice, but I want a libre Windows/Linux tool :-)

So, does ROS use a native redistry format indeed? If yes, which one is it - NT, 2k, XP?

And where do I look for the driver in the source tree?

Thanks.
