Ethernet driver installed, network is up but no packets are received

Post by Julcar »

My notebook has an windows xp ethernet driver available on driveridentifier, I just downloaded and installed it on ReactOS, the network is up and the system tries to send packets, but, for some reason ReactOS cannot read packets from outside, even connecting with a DHCP server is impossible.

I am trying to debug the driver, but not enough info is displayed even with full debug verbose.

Seems that ReactOS' Ndis driver cannot indeed communicate with the ethernet's driver, although looks as connected, reality is isolated to an APIPA... I am a bit confused because I don't know where to find a clue, maybe the devs can help me with this?

PD: I tried to install Windows xp/2k3 on this same machine, and didn't worked, point for ReactOS

Please identify your notebook PC's manufacturer, model, and provide a link to the manufacturer's specifications page for your laptop's model.
Please identify the exact release or build of ReactOS that you are using.
Please identify the exact driver you are using and the web page at "driveridentifier" from which it can be downloaded.

Also, please identify the additional information "full debug verbose" would have to supply in order to be "enough info" for your purpose.

Thankyou for your reply

1) HP notebook model 245 g6 part number 1PJ11LT#ABM
2) ReactOS 0.4.12-dev (Build 20190201-0.4.12-dev-563-g7015dd4) (Commit 7015dd4ca8cd5c1750c4556682cb175900416e48

I was expecting a better description of the "Miniport detected adapter hang" error, such as why is the hang and what is causing it, for example.

This appears to be HP's specifications for your model 245 G6 notebook: http://h20195.www2.hp.com/v2/getpdf.aspx/c05497588.pdf
That document suggests that your notebook has one of these network interface controllers:
  • Realtek RTL8188EE 802.11 bgn 1x1 WiFi Adapter
  • Realtek RTL8723DE 802.11 bgn 1x1 WiFi + BT 4.2 Combo Adapter
  • Realtek RTL8723BE-VB 802.11b/g/n 1x1 Wi-Fi + BT4.0 Combo Adapter
  • Intel Dual band wireless-AC 3168 802.11AC 1x1 WiFi + BT 4.2 Combo Adaptor (non-vPro)
  • Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7265 802.11 AC 2x2 WiFi + BT 4.2 Combo Adapter (non-vPro)
The b/g/n wireless standards are far more popular for consumer PCs than the a/c standards. Therefore you probably have one of the Realtek devices in your HP notebook PC. Try Zombiedeth's suggestion.
