Windows XP Silver theme?

Post by ImperialSpectre »

Just a thought will ReactOS eventually have a set of themes similar to Windows XP themes like its silver theme? I did quite like that Silver theme and noticed that on the Black Mesa stand alone game it showed on the fictional computers a Windows 98 interface but with the Windows XP silver theme in use. Are there any plans to have more themes available in the future?
ReactOS is still in alpha stage, meaning it is not feature-complete and is recommended only for evaluation and testing purposes

There is no need to clone XP themes, just copy over Luna.msstyle file from your genuine Windows XP installation into the same folder in ReactOS.

Interesting idea! What about other themes that lets say were made during Windows XP's era? like for example those from Stardock Wincustomize site would they have a potential to run eventually?

Everything that runs on Windows XP / 2003 should run on ReactOS as well. If something doesn't work, that's a bug which should be reported to the bug tracker.

If you someone can do original .msstyles to ReactOS, he or she should do them and let us know about...

Could you search all possible Windows XP msstyles and test them in ReactOS, and publish your progress on JIRA?

JIRA is not the right place for publishing investigation progress.

And using "epic" tag?
Here´s an example: https://jira.reactos.org/browse/CORE-15603

Don't you just understand what binarymaster has written and you quoted? JIRA is **ONLY** for bug-reports !!!!!!!!!!!!

I assume that some bugs there will be. Sorry.
I don´t think that all Windows XP msstyles will work without some problems...

There's a difference between "x theme doesn't work", "y theme doesn't work", "z theme doesn't work"... And "msstyles aren't properly applied - this error is shown consistently in the debug logs".

In other words - do your investigation, but don't report every individual theme that doesn't work as if they're separate issues because there is likely one consistent issue that prevents some msstyles themes from applying. Like this: https://jira.reactos.org/browse/CORE-13880

I had to use Epic to combine my all bug reports into one bug for easy searching, because I can't tie any two issues as "relates" or "duplicates" anymore.

Certainly because there has been some abuse of the functionality by people in the past.
